Handing in my notice was the best thing I did!

Yep... handed in my notice, it was the best thing I have ever done! The previous Friday was the icing on the cake! I know it was risky handing in my notice any time of the year, but 2 weeks before Christmas is a big risk! Especially with no other job to go to. I was that fed up of the job! Luckily, being debt free now, I had savings put away ( glad I didnt listen to people telling me to off my debts with my savings!)

I handed it in on Monday this week, looked for a job online the next day, within an hour of applying, the manager asked to see me within the hour! They more of less offered me the job there and then! I just had to go in over the next few days for the formalities of the job application, such as shadowing and filling in the forms. They finally offered me the job about 3 days later. Nice little Christmas present then! As well as being debt free in November 2012 :T:T:T:T:T

The best thing is, the job is an £13,000.00 pay increase!:j:j:j So that will mean that I will be over £1,000.00 better off a month!

Now, I consider myself to be one of the most unluckiest person in the world! Just I managed to pull through.

When I was offered the job and when I get any form of good luck I am very not very demonstrative, it humbles me, just like when I won all my PPI claims that I complained about, it was that that made me debt free eventually after all! I don't jump for joy or anything like that or scream hysterically!! Maybe I should have done when I became debt free- that is an amazing feat in itself!

Are you serious? You consider yourself unlucky yet there are people out there who can't even get a job, have no qualifications (or skills that employers want), have health issues that also bar them from certain types of work and then have the poverty (and debt) to deal with on top just to add a bit more stress ensuring a limited life span.

You think you're unlucky? You don't realise just how cushy you have it.

Seriously, I'm glad to hear that your life is on the up and I do genuinely mean that but I don't think you have any right to say you're one of the unluckiest people especially when you're bragging about how you're all debt free, just got a massive pay rise etc.

Again, I am pleased to hear that things are going well for you and I hope they continue like that for you but a little thought for others eh?
  • I'm pleased for you well done!
I also took a risk in September. I was being made redundant when they found me another position but it was miles away. I tried it for around 3 weeks then I turned it down. By mid November I found another job much nearer home and it's Monday to Friday. I am also looking forward to 10 days paid holiday over Christmas, ive never had it so good.

Its subjective, in his/her world, he/she is the most unlucky person out there. In your world, its different. We all have a right to feel how we feel.

I think it is great that Better_Off is now in a position that they don't feel trapped in a job they don't like because they have debts they must pay off, and I totally understand why they felt so unlucky. It is a massive achievement to have turned the situation around as OP has done.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

You only get to see 68% of that due to tax and NI, so £736pm

£13,000 pay increase? What job is it? Are you switching from part-time to full-time work?
  • You had a job and savings and considered yourself one of the unluckiest people in the world?

You need to get a bit of perspective.
