Hi, I've only ever had 1 non-payer, I don't use ebay much though now. Did you specify a time scale in your listing?

However, I think if your item ended on Thursday, i'd at least give it to the end of the week for the cheque to arrive, especially given how unreliable the postal system can be.

If it hasn't come by then, ebay give guidance on how to pursue, I don't think you can report a non-payer until after 14 days though:confused:

Personally I don't sweat NPB's now (used to chase them up ...total waste of time).

What I tend to do is after day 3-4 send a reminder email. After day 5-6 send a strongly worded reminder (and assuming no contact) I start NPB dispute on day 7.

Obviously this for PayPal payments, if buyer is paying by cheque and being communicative I would probably extend it a bit. But if they are not talking to you I would probably wait until post arrives next Monday or Tuesday (having sent a couple of reminders) and start NPB then. Giving your buyer 10 days which is more than enough time.

Message them and ask them if they have posted payment (as your post can be alittle unreliable).

For future reference add into your listing "cheque payments - please contact me to advise payment is sent" or something similar.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.
  • I try to give people time if I can, you never know if something has happened and they're unable to send payment straight away (or make contact). If no payment has arrived after a week I'd email and ask if they intend to go ahead with the purchase. You could always send a reminder via ebay instead if you prefer although i prefer the personal approach.
