Is this a health & safety issue ??

How about you tell us exactly why you need to know?
Have you filled in your own porch, or is it your neighbours who have done so?
If it's your own, are you worried about your health and safety, or are you worried about the saleability of your property?
If it's your neighbours, are you worried about their health? Are you worried about them selling their property? Or.... are you looking for something in order to report them to the authorities for breaching some regulation or other?0 -

if any knowledgeable person could help answering this question I would be obliged. I hope to avoid knee jerk answers from unknowledgeable / guessing persons - thanks in advance.
It's on a need to know basis - and you don't need to know0 -

As I said in post #3, it can't be any more of a Health and Safety issue than leaving the door of a WC or Bathroom, which opens onto a hall or landing, or that of an en-suite, which opens onto a bedroom, open after use...... why should it be?0 -
Some houses have a wc opening into the kitchen!
No doubt the wc has a fan or an opening window but whether the window is open or not is up to the user. Seems much worse then your worry about opening into a porch.0 -

Yes, it is a health & safety issue. After my husband has been ....
In all other instances: No, it is not a health & safety issue.
In case of concern, keep oxygen in the porch - then if someone passes out from poo fumes, you should be able to revive them.0 -

JUst dipped into this thread and see the above.
If you cannot answer a straight question on an anonymous forum then some would say you must be paranoid!
With your attitude (and inability to read the Building Regs yourself) all I can say is: I'm out!Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
