School slip up- What would you do?

Why would any parent receiving an email like that pass the information on to their children?0

I would be furious, how utterly disgraceful that professional communications are sent out by textBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

Been answered but yes, it's private information and not to be diseminated to every parent in school. How is saying that someone owes some dinner money giving out "senstive/confidential" information?Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

That's awful! If that were me I would feel so humiliated that everyone saw that I was in arrears! The mum could have a genuine hardship reason, even if not how utterly awful for her to know that everyone will talk about it, and shame on the people who decided to share it with their children.
I think she should complain.0 -

You obviously have never tried to get a parent on the phone or get a letter to a parent. It seems the easiest way (and the preferred way from the parents point of view) is text message or e-mail.
As for the other kids knowing - why did their parents tell them?Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
For much the same reason that rentamob parents near me are claiming that, because teachers have been suspended in a local secondary school ALL parents are 'sick with worry'.Why would any parent receiving an email like that pass the information on to their children?
No, we're not. Nor are we all presuming that the suspensions are entirely due to 'inappropriate' relationships.
The 'dinner-money-owing-texting' school, then, has given the less-than-rational sector some information. It will now, no doubt, be blown out of all proportion.
The issue is they need to ensure it never happens again.
The school text service is a brilliant tool when used well.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Well, I was a conscientious parent and always checked my child's school bag for communications, and I always attended to letters and phone calls. I disapprove of having to cater to the lowest common lazy denominator. I do appreciate some parents are, how can I put it......errr.....lacking in sensibility.... however, private issues such as owing money should not be sent out by text. That, Blackpool Saver, is fine when they are younger - I have NO intention of putting my hands in the bags the Vallikids (19 and 16 and yes, both in school) now haul around.
Texting is brilliant. Afterschool club cancellations can be dealt with, reminders for PTA events sent out and if it snows and school is closed;opening later; closing early or whatever a text goes out.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

My kids schools send general info/reminders by text/email, but something like that would be done by a letter in a sealed envelope to the child. They send a reminder letter at 4 weeks owed and then at 6 weeks and 8 weeks and as I understand it from the secretary they then write and phone direct to say they can no longer provide meals until the money is paid up or some kind of arrangement is made (although she told me they never would actually leave a child to go hungry and have rarely had to use the threat at all). TBH as I volunteer at school I just usually get told things as I go in.
Shame on the parents who got that message and felt it was a "juicy" bit of gossip to pass on to the kids-lets hope karma is waiting around the corner for them sometime.
