Gambling/Betting Sites

Not sure if this is the correct section or not...

I made a £20 deposit on a bingo/casino type site last Thursday, changed my mind and tried to withdraw the £20 on the Friday only to be told that in order to withdraw any money, I need to make £270 worth of wagers.

Are there any Acts/Laws that would allow me to get my deposit back without being forced to gamble?

Sounds like you took them up on one of those introductory offers. If you read the small print, then you do have to make a minimum number of wagers to get it back
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
  • No, you've actually bought something with that money (credit at the casino site) so you are not just entitled to a refund.

If you've not made a single bet I think you can email them and tell them you've changed your mind and ask to close your account and get your money back.

If you've made any bet at all then you're stuffed

Hadn't made a bet but they weren't playing ball - I'll chalk this off as £20 wasted and a lesson learnt.

Why don't you gamble the £20?

Who knows... you might actually win. :D

Because they still won't be able to withdraw any winnings until they've gambled a certain amount

Still may as well gamble it.

And if they don't gamble it, there will definitely be no winnings to withdraw. :D

Might get a few minutes' gratification.

OP has already written off his 'investment'.

You always get a bonus with a first deposit, what happened to it? There is more to this one, the bonus may have been gambled and they want their £20 back, not going to happen.

No, you don't always get a free bonus, but it's not always obvious you can opt out of it
