Extending my wifi signal over 300m distance?

I think there are different age groups who use the Internet in different ways. I'm not online checking things like Facebook all the time, but I do like to be connected. I just thought if the allotment is so close there curled be a way to make this work.
Anyway, after reading more about the TP Link device I've linked to above I've purchased one from dabs where it is £30 including delivery. Will update how I get on with it. If it doesn't work for the allotment, it should certainly enhance the signal around the house and reach the end of our garden.0 -
The tp-link external external access should should more than do the job.
Idea of 2 yagi aerials is to increase the range, using bridge connection. You do that if you want to share lan or net connection between building over long distance.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
Thanks Neil. I did google the yagi aerials too and they look pretty easy to do as a diy job to keep it cheaper.
I like the tp link solution though as there is no power required at the other end. If it works with the building in the way I realise it could be completely overkill if the manufacturers claims are correct, but you can make it into an invisible network from what I've read.0 -
If you buy the TP-Link unit please post back and let us know how you get on. IMO the 15km range claim is totally outrageous so you should have no problem returning it if it fails. I've heard of a 5km WiFi link but that used dishes each end and was across open countryside.0

Its doable, maybe nit in this country, as the legal power output is 100mw wheras usa is 500mw, so the stats they publish are probably the us ones. Still 300m should be ok.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

IMO it's not the 300m that's the problem it's the building mentioned standing in the line of site - without seeing that it's difficult to guess but as I said the BS 15km claim in the specs mean there is a good getout over and above the 7 day remote selling regs if it doesn't do the business.0

Personally I would be surprised if the TP Link AP will allow you to surf 300m away on your ipad, phone etc? How high up are you planning on putting the TP Link e.g. on a tall mast to get the signal over the house in between? How close is this property between your house and the allotment? If the allotment is in the same direction as the "office at the back of the garden" then it should be fine for the office but you may need another TP Link at the allotment to set up a point to point link. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I just had a look in the daylight and I might get lucky as far as a rough line of site is concerned. The houses in the way is one of the two in this picture but there is also a pretty big gap between them. I'll have to see if there is a line between there that works for my allotment shed position.
The allotments are literally behind those houses gardens. I actually think my measure of 300m is the route I walk to get to it, so the actual direct line will be even shorter maybe down to 200m.
I've read reviews from buyers on amazon in the USA who have done something similar, so I'm fairly hopeful it will work.
It might be worth noting, we are in the countryside too-behind the allotments are farmers fields, where I can get a better mobile signal when walking the dog than I do at home!0
