My question: How do I control the Santander eSaver DD? I know I can cancel it via Halifax OLB, but how can I vary the amount?

When the DD has been setup by Santander you log in to Santander online banking, select the e-saver then select the option to pull in from external accounts.

There you will have a drop down with the Halifax accounts numbers to select and a data/amount that you want the transaction to take place.

If you filled in the top part of the DD form to pull in the money automatically then I believe this appears there as well but I didnt fill that in as I wanted to do a manual pull.

Reward CA isn't affected by the changes in terms of benefits - all you need is 2DDs, no big deal. Not affected.
Ultimate Reward CA will cost you either more per month or cut your benefits. 2DDs don't do the trick here. So only URCA holders lose here. Ok it's just an overdraft, but still a loss no matter how you look at it. I was with Halifax since 2006 and remember a gradual loss of interest from 6+% to 0% and introduction of all variery of fees.. I guess this one more change was too much for me to take (but that's somewhat a subjective feeling of a loyal customer).

Reward CA is still a good option for people who want their fivers.

Thanks. I did fill in the top part for an automatic monthly pull. I can see the option online to do a manual pull, but no mention of the DD. The automatic DD pull has not happened yet, so I'll check again later in the month.

They should no longer advertise is as £300 fee-free overdraft as this is not true.

It is true. There are no fees if you use your £300 fee-free overdraft. You lose an account benefit, but you are not charged a fee. This can be proven by looking at your statement - there is no debit transaction incurred because you have used your overdraft, therefore it is fee free.

Great now I have to changes to both my Ultimate Reward and Reward Account.

    At the moment:
Ultimate Reward Current Account (URCA) - wage goes in last working of the month, Standing Order (SO) of £1000 is set for 1st of the month, and then a SO for 2nd of month £325 back into Ultimate. This is my personal spending account.

Reward Current Account (RCA) - my bills account, all direct debits (DD).

At the moment my URCA account still has my mobile contract DD, not yet changed over, no point now, but comes out just before end of month, would rather 1st of month, and my gym membership DD from my RCA is 1st of month, so change that over. Now to make 2 changes, simple but hassle.

    Help,you call 6+ years a loyal customer!
I was with Nat West for over 40 years , they made an error at the time of the account transfer which came to light much later and they would not refund the money. Lost £40...that's how they dealt with a previously loyal customer.

We know that there is pretty much no such thing as being rewarded for loyalty these days. Just be a good "interest/reward tart" instead!!

I've opened an online saver with the post office, and one with Santander. Have sent the dd form off to Santander and waiting for it to be processes.
