Firstly, i apologise if i am posting in the wrong place but i have found the MSE site to be my personal saver.
This time i have landed in deep doo doo.
I am ashamed of the following events and i have no reason to justify my foolish actions.
Last Friday, i took the car without my parents consent to pick up a lost friend in the town centre. Once i arrived, i couldn't get ahold of him and my stomach was about to give way. So instead of waiting and crapping my pants i decided to go back home.
I reversed out from the space and went about 25 metres down a road before realising i was on a one way street. Before i could reverse, PC Bobby saw me and called me out for a word.
He told me i had no lights on, no seatbelt and was driving wrong way - why? So i told him the truth, i pulled out just here and didn't think because i badly needed a crap. He laughed but couldnt do anything about it.
Instead of giving me 3 seperate fines of £90, he said he would summons me. I told him my real details i.e. name, addy and date of birth but was scared to tell him i had no license, no insurance and took the car without my parents knowing.
The officer i am told now kn ows this information and i am due to get some paperwork in the post.
Can someone more educated in this department tell me whats going to happen as i am bricking myself again (not literally this time)
Ive never sdone this before, ive never ben in trouble, im 26 and an idiot for not passing my test. I only have a provisional and was due to take the test. I do not wish to contest the events, i am guilty and will admit to that.
Do i need legal representation?
What punishment will i get?
What costs are involved?
Anything and any help would be appreciated.
Sorry

Best thing to do is plead guilty and admit fault. Trying to lie your way out of it will just make things worse for you. You will most likely have to pay the fines and face a driving ban.
If you are a first time offender, they MAY just go easy, but don't count on it. I suppose having legal rep may help, if you can afford it.0 -
oops - no licence or insurance  do your parents know what's happened yet? Best to hold your hands up and admit the truth.
Prob best to ring CAB and get some advice. You'll probably get fined and a ban for no insurance0 -
Thank you for your reply.
Yes it was my first time and yes it will be the only time.
I feel really bad about this and whats worse it was 25 metres of foolishness because i was so badly in pain of a crap.0 -
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

So I guess it's 5 offences you committed:
*Driving without a seatbelt
*Driving with no lights on
*Driving wrong way up a 1 way street
*Driving without insurance
*Driving without a license
If you're pleading guilty, then it might not be worth getting a solicitor, because for £1000 it probably won't really help that much. Try the CAB instead.
I presume you'll get a 12 or 18 month driving ban, fines for the relevant offences, and to pay any court costs. This will also be noted on your license for 10 (??) years, which will mean when you do pass your test, you'll have to admit to the offences when you apply for insurance, so it'll probably cost you more to get insured.
I guess you won't be doing that again!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
6 months inside minimum. The courts have been instructed to crack down on driving related crime with the severity of the punishment based on number of offences committed and the age of the suspect. I suspect the fact that you have a clean sheet will prevent you spending more time at Her Majesty's pleasure, but failing to disclose the relevant information to the arresting officer will not count in your favour. You only have to think how bad it could have turned out if something worse had happened with you having no insurance. I would suggest you learn how to shower without dropping the soap and perhaps some sort of self defence classes might be in order.

Only kidding, mostly likely they'll do what everybody else said, fine, slapped wrist, and no driving for you for a very long time."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -
please please please get a solicitor, do not plead guilty to anything until you have spoken to them - you really do need one and would be an utter fool to think you should walk into a courtroom without legal representation, this could potentially be very serious for you so do not try to do it alone - good luck
I understand ALOT more than I care to let on

I know someone who did something similar only his parents did not want to press charges for the taking of the car. He did get just under the max points on his license before he actually got his full license plus a fine of approx. £1000. He actually wrote off his parents car and was drunk at the time.0

my idiot cousin did something like this, only he was drunk at the time too  He got £350 fine and was banned from driving for 2 years, not a problem seeing as he didn't have a licence at the time!!
What swung it for him was that he held his hands up straight away admitted he was in the wrong. He didn't have a solicitor.0 -
For motoring offences the police have 6 months to lay information against you (send you a summons) so if your local constabulary are suffering with backlogs it could be a while before you hear anything.
No insurance usually carries 6 points, costs and a fine.
Costs usually 40quid ish, fine dependant on your earnings. You will get a form to fill in about your earnings with your summons make sure you list all your outgoings. Every single one
It may be that the courts decide not to give you a separate points for driving otherwise in accordance with licence/no full licence (usually carries 3 points) but may still fine you.
As you are a provisional licence holder you only need 6 points before they disq you. Sometimes the courts will lenient and let you keep your licence even though you have 6 points but to be honest don’t hold your breath. No insurance is not looked upon kindly.
If your parents don’t make a complaint against you for taking the car then nothing further will happen on that front.
You will not need to appear for your first hearing it can all be done via post, when you reply to your summons (send back all the relevant forms) it may be worth writing a letter stating how you really need to gain a full licence for work/family commitments eg school runs etc etc and the effects a driving ban would have on you.
Generally if the courts want to disq you they will adjourn the case and ask you to attend to give reasons why you shouldn’t be disqualified.
If you are going to plead guilty I agree with one of the other posters it may not be worth the money getting a solicitor although do try CAB or if you have a solicitor which does 30 minutes advice for free go to them with your summons when it arrives.
Hope this clarifies a few things....wow I can really ramble on!! :rolleyes:100% MFW :j0
