Maybe the reason Lidl customers get so many 'PCN's' is because Lidl keep them in long queues waiting to check out! Up to 10 tills and often only a couple in operation...

On another note does anyone know how many pieces of junk mail Athena send out before they see the light & realise they are getting Jack Sh*t from the persecuted?

I read somewhere that Athena never go to court. Is this verifiable?
I'm forever telling people to ignore but extra info is always useful...

Athena never go to Court - I have been posting here and on pepipoo for several years and have NEVER seen Athena do anything remotely like a real Court claim. There is a FOI request online somewhere which lists the few attempts made in 2011 by the whole private parking industry and it's only a mere forty-nine cases that went to Small Claims out of 1.8 MILLION fake tickets issued that year. Over half were defended properly and won (the handful of losses would include default wins by the PPC if the motorist didn't turn up, had moved house etc.).

As regards the bit in bold, that's what the PPC letter chains sticky thread is for. Look at the OLD pre-October pictures on that thread (not the new ones because that's a work in-progress). The pre-October pics show all the usual threatograms and if not all Athena's are shown then you'll find the relevant debt collector listed under several other PPCs if you look through the thread.

All letters are shown there if you look at all the PPCs listed; it takes a few months for them to give up.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

Yes, been looking at the old sticky and since October '12 the letters are slightly different. I have a (yawn) battle in progress and am on currently on letter 3.
    1) Civil Parking Charge Notice.
    2) Overdue Reminder.
    3) Final Demand.
There is subtly different wording on the 'similar' notices too.
If I can work it out I'll up copies of mine...

    Cheers

My local Lidl is in the town centre, and if they had no parking penalty system they would be used by all and sundry for free parking.
Today I received my first ever parking charge notice (I suppose I thought that because the park was more than half empty, and that I had shopped in Lidl, that overstaying for a few minutes would not be a problem, though in fairness I did'nt check the time)

My feeling is that Lidl or their representatives, are morally entitled to make a reasonable charge, and this charge should be enough to cover their costs of collecting it.

    But thats not £45/£90.

My dilemma is this. Morally I think that it would be right to send them a cheque for £5-£10, but if I do so, will I be opening myself up to being more likely to be taken to court, eventually, and would the court take this as an admission of 'guilt', and apply the full charge, or decide that Athena were unreasonable to refuse to accept my offer?

I'm hanging on to my money for now, but does anyone have any knowledge, of what would happen if I sent them a 'reasonable' fee for their 'loss'?

Please start your own thread below, it's easier when we are only discussing one issue to a thread. Thanks
