Newly divorced from o2 need direction!
hello
i'm new to this board so sorry if these are rookie questions...but:
i've just had to cancel my contract on o2, i've been with them for 5 years and had 100 x-network anytime and 500 texts for £15 a month but they REFUSE to renew it for less than £25 a month so stood my ground and cancelled it as cant afford more than £15 (he said there was no option at that price, even tho when i a few weeks ago i was offered it, i was just slow at phoning back to confirm) but I want to cry now!
So i'm looking at new deals, open to monthly or PAYG so went onto u-switch and as an example the offer is:
Virgin £20pmonth £200 cashback, need to redeem with carphone warehouse. what does this "need to redeem" malarky mean? other deals have it as well. i clicked on the "more details" and it says "you will need to redeem with CW using a bill or voucher" what does this mean?
also if anyone has any advice for me, much appreciated, can't believe i'm venturing into the world of a new contract/PAYG after 5 years

Redemption means you pay the full line rental and get cashback on certain months of the contract (months 4,8,10 and 12 for example) CPW seem to be pretty good for cashback but you do have to follow the terms and conditons to a tee, if you miss one cashback date then you will not recieve any more cashback for the rest of the contract. Have you considered the 3 network ? With them you can have either 75 x net mins and 600texts or just 500 x net mins for just £15 per month for life, this is not by cashback so you just pay 3 £15 per month. Plus you can pick a free phone !0 -
Most CPW 12-month contracts only need 3 claims - at 4,8 and 12 months. You have 60 days to put in a claim from the date of the relevant invoice and CPW text you within a few days to say they are processing your claim. If they don't, you can chase it up or submit a new claim well within the time limit.
The £20 Virgin tariff only has 50 mins and 100 texts? Will that be enough?
If you sign up with Quidco, you get £35 cashback as well."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
I signed up for 3 mobile.
£15 a months forever (18 month contract) - 75 mins, 600 texts a month. They also do a £15 a month for 750 minutes (i think)
Free browsing of 'Planet 3' - so free ITN news bulletins, finance, weather, and sports headlines, including live scores update for the football.
Free phone.
If I 'refer a friend' we get £30 each credit to use on phone eg ringtones, football highlights etc
All details on https://www.three.co.uk
Plus £70 if sign up via quidco.co.uk
PM me if you want me to 'refer' you !0 -
'3'are offering 500 anytime/anynetwork minutes for £15 per month for life.
Not sure how many texts you get though. You can get a cracking phone free as well.0 -
I am probably going to 3- all my friend who moved say they would never go back and they always get great upgrade offers like half price line rental and since they started on 12 month contracts, they have not been switched to 18 month ones.
Going to get the £25/month contract with free Nokia E65 myself- that tarriff has £100 off with quidco but because its a new handset there is no tarriff reduction. I'd say its a good deal.
About the "refer a friend" £30 bonus- I take it this just goes on extra services? Like you cant use it to pay a months line rental?? Thats a bit rubbish if so0 -
yeah - as far as i know it goes on just for extra services.0
