christmas beach bargains?

I know this is probably a stupid ask, but I'll ask anyway.....

Looking to leave 21st-25th, stay as long as possible, but returning by 4th jan.

2 adults + 2 children, 10, 5.

Budget flexible (higher for Mexico, less for Malta), but wanting value really, so don't want to pay £500 pp for 4 nights in a slum in Tenerife

Might get something cheap in Brighton or Worthing.
  • What is your budget? What is your minimum temperature? Xmas your looking at paying a 50% premium on normal prices and very little availability this late. To get proper beach weather you're going to have to go fairly far south. Even Middle East, North Africa etc are going to be low 20s (not beach weather in my book)

We did Sharm a few years ago at Christmas. Didn't like Egypt much, but it was warm enough.

I would imagine every man and his dog will be travelling 22nd Dec so even if you get a late bargain it's going to be busy.

We usually try to go on Xmas day as it's usually cheaper and quieter.

Malta has one sandy beach, the rest are pebbles.

Went to Texas last year, not even hot there

We went to Florida last year. Orlando was warm some days, quite mild on others. The Florida Keys were nice and warm though.

Hmm, looking at Boa Vista, Cape Verde.

We went to Gambia a couple of years ago, which was nice. I heard Boa Vista is tediously boring though.

Also looks like the hotels might all be full.

The chances are that even if you had posted this nine months ago or indeed any day between then and now the answer would be the same.

To ensure hot you have to travel long haul and long haul anywhere at Christmas is the most expensive time of the year whenever you book.

But seven days away from today ? :rotfl:

Gambia is nice, Cape Verde, not so - nothing to do and weather quite changeable (can be too cool and windy for the kids - too cool to go in pool or sea) have a look at Dom Rep and Cuba for good weather and reasonable prices
