  • Yeah, I did the same with my Virgin one oddly enough - but I used it for support purposes, for clients with dialup connections!

    Buying a domain name is definitely a good solution, it's not all that expensive (I just paid £10 for two years) and fairly straightforward to set up. and yes, you don't have to worry about changing email address if you switch ISP.

    Some sites/retailers don't like "disposable" email addresses like G-Mail or Hotmail. Getting a Hotmail address also used to be like handing out an open invitation to spammers, although I think Hotmail may have done something to fix that recently.

    I actually have a web address for the business, so do have another email address, but because I got that a while after setting up the business we have been using our old email address and have it printed on the business cards etc.
  • Like I (think I) said earlier, if you contact your old ISP - they will likely rent you the mailbox for a charge.
