oh my goodness what great replies! thanks everyone (not sure if buttons are working)

richardw i had wondered about insurance and would need to look into this but we do all have our own medical insurance. will ask OH as he understands these things better than I do.

pattybarndance i haven't read all the T & C's so not too sure, it was only an idea i came up with when surfing this morning (and should have been working  )

steny and gladys its just an online deal so no TA to speak to unless we phoned them to ask, could very well be an option though, I wonder what they would say because the parents are making their own way there and not through them? thanks for the websites will trawl through them later.

ckerrd it seems when u rent a villa from villarenters etc it is a property price and it doensnt matter about under occupancy, but when you book as a package they do charge for it, i suppose its because we would be staying in a place they could get 4 adults into and as they sell the holiday per person they are losing out. don't think there is any way to contact the villa owner as we would only be in contact with the large TA and not the owners directly... would a rep from the TA actually go to the villa at all during the 2 weeks? surely not?

scooby drew i'm afraid i can't guarantee not to wreck your house, the olds are a bit wild after a sherry or two, they've been known to stay up past ten o'clock :D can you PM me details of your villa? only problem is we're on a bit of a budget and if we were renting a villa for two weeks it would need to be a very good deal (reqd in the second half May/beginning of June, you might not have availability)

we've looked at the option of DIY flights and villa but with the cheapest villas at £6-700 for two weeks (has to have pool AND spa according to OH's exacting standards! but we really need it to be half that price not very likely I know) The best flights we can find for £358 for two, plus car rental and spending money its all racking up... but we're looking at a lot of different options, including taking a flydrive and renting a villa. It would be a bonus to choose our own villa and get a good deal on it!

cpu i like your vision, certainly made me laugh and could be a plan! i'll pack the camouflage jackets and night vision goggles just in case :rotfl:

In the T & C of the place I rented it stated that under no circumstances was anyone not mentioned in the original booking allowed to stay in the property.
Violation would lead to everyone being evicted.
It's probably in there because of US College kids on Spring Break - parents rent a place for their children who then invite everyone & anybody to stay.

As others have said contact the renter

Depends on your parents really. If they are fairly stable and secure and in good health i'd just sneak them in. It will also add some excitement to your holiday and you may even have a funny story to tell after it.

I once had a friend hiding in a wardrobe whilst my room was checked ;-p
That always makes everyone laugh if it comes up in conversation.

    Just do it!!!

    I'd let them stay.

If anyone from the Travel company turned up you can always say that they're visiting for the day. I can't imagine anyone turning up to check on you though.
