sneaking parents into Florida villla...

Ok, so OH and I are trying to find the cheapest way of going to Florida for our holiday and one option is to get a flights, car and villa deal from a large holiday company which works out at £1100 for the two of us.

Now we asked his parents to join us and they would like to but are unable to come on exactly the same day as us and would perhaps join us for the second week or maybe just a few days after, depending on when they could get a cheap flight.

what i'm wondering is could they stay in our villa? (they would help us pay for it if they could :D ) Its probably strictly against the T&C's but what's gonna happen if they "catch us?"

I would feel guilty (although i can't figure out exactly why) but OH and I would be paying an enormous under occupancy charge anyway so surely we've "paid" for them?

Has anyone done this or can any travel folks out there tell me if we'd be carted off immediately to the Florida Penn if we tried it? :D I do remember something from last year when we were there about Florida state law needing to know such and such, don't remember what tho.

Sorry long post, and thanks in advance.

If the unknowns had an accident in the villa, any insurance would not cover them for medical treatment, so you would have to pay the medical bills, have you got £1,000,000s to cover that?

    Don't do it.

Wouldn't they get their own travel insurance which would cover any eventualities?

What has insurance got to do with being in the villa? Genuine question - bit confused.

They would be trespassing, insurance doesn't cover illegal activities.

  • At the risk of being shouted out: I don't see a problem with a few days - I would do it especially when paying extra for under occupancy. As long as there is enough space - I would risk it!!

Just out of curiosity, does it actually show any warning of penalties in the T&Cs regarding unexpected visitors turning up?

If the villa sleeps 4 then you will be paying a premium for a property that can sleep up to 4? I'd imagine anyway
Maybe it would be worth talking to your TA and ask how much it would be for adding two further adults into the accomodation only?
But first, the most asked question:

Q "Is anything worn under your kilt???"

A "No. Everything is in perfect working order Thank You!!."

Hi as you have not booked this holiday yet , with a large company , why dont you just ask them how much it would cost for the parents to stay for the second week, you may get a better deal ,ask at a few travel agents. see what they come up with.or book every thing seperate . most of the time you just pay for the villa not per person .Some web sites for you https://www.villasdirect.co.uk , https://www.viladirect.com , https://www.iblenfloridavilla.com, or ask Scooby Drew if he would like to rent his house to you ,he knows the parents are coming to stay for a week
  • I own a rental house in Orlando, and I never charge under occupancy costs... it costs the same to rent for 1 person as it does for 8! I can't understand why any owner would charge extra for under-occ as there will be less wear-and-tear from a smaller number of guests.

In all honesty, you're unlikely to be checked, as most agents and owners leave their guests alone during their stay.

There are loads of companies and individuals who rent property in Orlando and it is usually a property price not an occupancy price.
In the T & C of the place I rented it stated that under no circumstances was anyone not mentioned in the original booking allowed to stay in the property.
Violation would lead to everyone being evicted.

I am sure if you contacted a villa owner and explained the sitaution there would not be a problem at all.

Otherwise chance it and risk getting chucked out I suppose
We all evolve - get on with it

:rotfl: Got visions of the olds creeping furtively round the back with balaclavas on just so they can get in to go to bed. :D
  • You could always rent from me... I promise not to throw you out! :D

(Unless, of course, you wreck my house! Which is pretty unlikely... )
