  • To get a bit further away from current migrations of population, and this query might be directed at Generali:

Speaking as someone who is 50% jelly fish and nearly 99% "Chimp", some time ago, perhaps 25 years, a theory was expounded on the box that Aborigines arrived in Australia in two waves, but managed to interbreed.

Was this theory complete nonsense - like the Chinese conviction that they could never have come "out of Africa" - or is it just politically incorrect for a nation of migrants trying to integrate, to notice differences.

I think the latest theory is that we have all managed to inherit a percentage of Neanderthal ?

Well, we drank champagne and danced all night,
    Under electric candlelight,
She picked me up and sat me on her knee...........,

The conventional theory AIUI is that aboriginal 'tribes' were really family groupings and it was normal for a man or woman to leave their tribe and join another to 'marry'.

As such different waves of immigration would be assimilated into a whole. The theories I've read seem to be muddled and contradictory as to when Aboriginal people arrived in Australia.

I'm no expert although I find Aboriginal history very interesting. I'd love to discover more and in fact I'd love to become an expert.

PS Great song, The Kinks are great. Sunny Afternoon, their repost to Taxman by The Beetles is probably the
most appropriate for this board. "The tax man's taken all me dough//and left me in my stately home....and I can't sail my yacht//he's taken everything I've got".
