mart.vader, I wonder if the deflector strip is the same sort of stuff you put behind radiators to deflect heat?
No, It's different stuff.
In your position, I would phone the Ikea help-line for advice, but you could try the radiator stuff.
The strip I fitted was much more like this >

It may even be the same thing, but I was advised by Ikea to fit it over the oven door, but under the worktop0 -
I'd suggest a standard baking tray, big enough to sit the toaster in, and sit the two on the hob, but for the fact that if it were me, I'd also have the pan on the hob for my eggs, so they'd be clashing for space.0
