Sounds to me like the other party will just deny ever being involved in any accident or at the very least deny responsibility, the OP did state there were no witness's
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.

If you don't put in a claim to your own insurer then don't expect them to try to hard contacting the third party insurer as they have no need to!

So: Either put in a claim, (your insurer will sort your car out and pursue the third party. You will probably have to pay your excess and have to recover it)

Or: Contact the third part insurer yourself and ask if they have an innocent third party claim department to deal with your claim

(You can get the insurer from askmid - costs £4, which you can add to your expenses)

Or: Use a solicitor or claim handler to pursue the third party

i have reported it to my insurance co, and after spending over 90 minutes on hold on 4 calls to them, 1 just now, they can't get through to the other insurer and have wrote to them giving them until Friday to respond, nearly 2 weeks since the incident!
my argument is that the other party should have reported it, i told her at the time i would,

the police have told me its nothing to do with them even if they commit fraud by denying she was even there,
i was too shook up to think of getting a witness, but she knocked be forward a good 10ft, i managed to stop inches away from the car in front, in hindsight i wished I'd hit it! but instinct took over and you brake as hard as you can.

as i stated previously, i got stung by an insurance co who were just too lazy, which cost me big time, just don't want to get done again,

It is only 10 days since your accident. You need to be more patient - communication between insurers routinely takes weeks rather than days!

When you say you "reported" this then your insurer will take little action, apart from recording the incident.

You need to make a claim to get action!

The other party may have reported this incident to their own insurer, but unless you make a claim, you won't hear from them either!

You don't have to await the third party getting in touch before you can claim.

Your choices are set out in post #11.

probably me "terming" it wrong, i assumed reporting and claiming were the same?
i have made a claim and got a claim ref num.
sorry if i seem impatient, but after what happened a few years ago i don't trust anyone when it comes to the truth, even those supposedly on my side!

OK. If you have made a claim, then there is no reason why your insurer should be making you wait till they contact the third party before getting on with the repairs.

Get on to them and start making some noise about that!

You will probably have to pay your excess then reclaim it from the third party. If you have "legal cover" with your policy then use that to get it back for you.

As regards the insurers getting in touch with the third party, leave them to get on with it, it takes months rather than weeks to conclude claims even when liability is accepted from the start.

Next time you are involved in a claim where the third party is clearly to blame, consider claiming direct from them rather than making a claim off your own policy which will save you the hassle of paying/reclaiming your excess etc.

they did offer to get the car in for repairs, as its only minor and basically i just cant afford the excess this side of Xmas I've told them to wait until liability as been established.

i half understand that, but when the other driver still hasn't reported it and doesn't look like doing so, then i feel i have to keep on my own insurers back, i will only relax when she's actually admitted been involved.

Your insurer has little incentive to pursue this with the third party as you haven't put them to any expense to chase for!

As you seem "tense" over all this, and cannot relax, why not see if you can cancel your "claim" - if your insurer has registered a claim, and just pursue the third party insurer direct as that will get things moving!
  • I had also met an accident last week. I was turning to my right, a van hit me from back and I got bruses very much.

how would i contact their insurers and make them pursue the claim? I'm not their client so not sure if they would speak to me direct?
I'm not trying to dramatize this, but after my last brush with an insurer, my own stabbed me in the back by refusing to investigate further, once bitten twice shy!!

You ring their claims department and ask if they have an innocent third party claims department and take it from their reply.
