Listening to news, hmv is 36.1million in debt and shares are down 40% so I'm glad I used my gift card already and feeling for the people worrying about their jobs.

They been close to going for past 2 years or more.
Even back then shares were 76p, down from £2.60 odd previously,
Now down to 1.5p.
They have been around 3p for months and months,
Media dragging up old news again, but suppose it stops someone
from buying vouchers,who wasnt aware,
dont know if thats a good or bad thing,0 -
Annoying... I've bought 2 gift cards as gifts...0

Thanks for the warning.
Rubyroo- may be safer to buy a gift with them?0 -
It is not dragging up old news, HMV have announced that they will "probably" breach an agreement with their bank.
This means that they will probably not meet a financial target set by the bank who are lending them money. This will probably be some kind of financial ratio which MAY affect the banks decision to keep funding them. They have stated that the review is NEXT month, so in the short term they should have no issues, so it should be safe to shop online (use a credit card, just in case) and instore. They are not facing administration, closure, redundancies etc. at this point in time, although that may change.
They have to announce this information to the market as they are listed on the stock exchange.0 -
I'm just not sure what to buy - I bought them for my godmother's children who are 9 and 7, but not having kids myself, I'm clueless about what they're into.
Could you go in and swap for a couple of chart DVDs or something, then ask for a gift reciept? At least the kids would have a worthwhile "asset".0 -

Very sound advice. Just before Woolies went under my friend bought a gift voucher. She was lucky enough to be able to dash out and spend it before they stopped taking them. I always think it's awful how the administrators seem to stop taking these.
Even Martin lewis is warning people to think very carefully about which stores to get gift vouchers from. I have got some from B and Q and primark, but not heard anything negative about their future!Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0
