I have been a customer of VERY for ages, and recently got a letter telling me that I could have £30 of any £60 order, so I ordered £80 of goods last night and the code didn't work!!!
The problem is that a few of the items are persoanlised xmas pressies, which are non returnable.I rang Very and they said I shouldn't have been sent the letter in the first place!!!:mad:
Just a warning for any other customers

If you've only just ordered last night, surely the personalised items would not have been made yet? I would persue it further, if you put up a fight they may well cancel the order or offer some money off as a gesture.0

I'm on your side if what you say is correct, but it's not a scam, it's an error. Calling it a scam could get you into a lot of legal trouble. They should definitely though do the right thing and let you cancel the order.0

No it couldn't.
The use of 'scam' to cover 'errors' that disadvantage customers is widespread and no court would infer a literal meaning from a piece of slang.
Not that any company would be stupid enough to take a customer to court in the first place over something so trivial. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Who said you are not enttled to the £30 off a £60 spend? I know for a fact customer enquiries wouldn't have. As they don't know.
If you have this letter, Write a quick letter to this address with a copy of the letter and they will honour it.

Personalised items cannot be cancelled once ordered, This is standard across all the mail order catalogues (Unless the colleague knows the QH method on the system) I guess you went all guns blazing demanding hense why they said no. If you was to follow what I said above, more than likely you'll get a letter back confirming its been actioned.0 -

Strictly speaking, 'scam' specifically suggests deception, trickery or underhand behaviour which could cause reputational damage blah blah. Of course the odd one post on a forum is unlikely to be too big a deal to most companies, but it is a pretty strong word to use when what you mean is 'mistake'0 -
If the code didn't work then why did you proceed with the order ??
I had a code that did not work last week, i just placed the order on the phone and they in putted the code after i confirmed i received a letter , mine was for £20 off £500 -

That's what I can't work out, I have ordered stuff from Very and used a £30 off code and it tells you if the code is valid before placing the order.

I opened a Very account a couple of months ago after received a 30 off voucher in Superdrug. Funnily enough my code wasnt accepted either - it initially accepted it then a few days later it was reversed off my statement as 'invalid' but the code was legit and i check carefully on tc&cs. I had returned the garments by this point anyway and now dont use my account - I'll close it soon.
