i'm well chuffed as I was getting 0.1% at the great (not) leading building soc Nationwide and they even asked me why I was closing the account! lol!

Didn't you have a Nationwide eSavings Plus (2.0%) or a MySave Online (2.75%) account there? If you've left it in an old account it will drop to these ridiculously low interest rates, like it does everywhere.

All you can do is wait for something better and move your money. Nice bonus, though, I wish they'd send me one.
  • I got the mailer today - it just a 1% Gross p.a. (fixed) interest bonus, though. That makes the total AER (variable) on my account 2.02% according to the flyer.

I think this is less than the total % on the recent e-Saver offer in October, though? I have two accounts, and of course this offer is for my older e-Savings account that had a balance of 0.

I've just received a similar invite, although mine has significantly different conditions. I can get an extra 2% (fixed) for a year on top of the standard 1% - provided I increase the balance by at least £5000 into the account by 23/01/13 !!!!

It doesn't say that the £5k has to remain in the account for the year, but it doesn't say that it doesn't have to either.

Could be - they do suggest a good way of getting the extra £5k in is by transferring it from savings accounts held with other providers :rotfl:

Looks like a bit of test-marketing going on.

i opened the 3% e-saver in Nov and have been very pleased with ease of setting up (about 10 mins) and the instant monthly interest..
The bit that mystifies me - I opened one, but got a 1.81% bonus on top of 1% = 2.82%.

And no leaflet offer for me either...
