iPhones

  • OP asked for technical advise not lessons in morality from strangers who know neither her nor her children.

Getting so sick of the holier than thou brigade who feel that simply have to tell people how old kids should be for iphones/ipads/PS3's etc.

Each parent judges each child individually. So OP wants to give her kids an old phone. Big deal! She's hardly beating them around the room with a belt and giving them a sack of coal is she.

My daughter has played on my iphone since she was 3!!! Her older brothers have iPod touches and she is having one for Christmas......nothing wrong with it as long as you ensure there are limits and age appropriate restrictions.

As for the person who suggested getting an Innotab instead....how is that different??? My DD had an Innotab last year...but barely plays it...the games and books are expensive compared to games from the Apple App store and the batteries drain unbelievably quickly!! Yes Apple products are expensive...but they are also fabulous!! Why shouldn't the OP give an old phone to her children to play games on?????

I agree with pulliptears - so many people are quick to pass judgement on other parents decisions and actions - the OP wasn't asking for anyone's permission or advice on whether her children should have the iPhone - just asked for some technical advice! Incidentally - to confirm - the iPhone without a SIM card will function like an iPod touch......will access the internet if you have WiFi but at other times you an play music, games and take photos!:T

School's - The creche/school they attend has touch sensitive 42" TV connected to a computer a an low height. Initially she would come home and touch our 42" Tv (which again is connected to a Acer R3610 computer via HDMI) thinking it was the same system as school/creche..

    Kids & Technology...its the future..

Never mind the kids. After using the iPad, if I walk over to the PC, it's hard to shake the habit of reaching for the screen instead of the mouse....

    Thats technology..

In the school, they have an interactive tv which the kids can look through the school pictures taken.

I used it, i could access IE and load google through Character Map. I did not think it would have been XXX barred, but it takes some genius 5 yr old to access an XXX website through IE, then Character Map etc.
