  • i've decided to hold off on yankee jars for now & i've got these melts on their way to me to try. if i like, i'll be giving their jar candles a go as i still prefer candles to melts (much cheaper than yankee & get very good feedback on their ebay store, they do sell direct on their own website too, which can be cheaper depending on how many bought).

these were delivered yesterday, tried 3 of them up to now & i'm a bit disappointed unfortunately! smells quite strong to start with but not enough to 'fill' a room, perhaps the large jar candles can do this though. pleasant enough scents but a bit too chemical/synthetic for my liking. back to the drawing board for that 'bargain original yankee effect'... :o

    Hi there,

If you're into melts then try Tanyas Tartes http://www.tanyastartes.co.uk/#!home/mainPage

She is the niece of a friend and the melts are lovely and very reasonable.

I am not connected with the business in any way. There is also a facebook page.

hi, yes deliciousmelts states delivery in 3-5 days, but got ours in 2 days.
REALLY good smells/throw (i think they definately use 10% as stated, its fills our entire room and lasts for days!)
the strawberry is incredible, will be using them again, the mrs wants to try the whole range!....
i think you can tell they are quality compared to some of these ones that are £1-2:money:

thas sounds really positive... i do like the quirkie names they have called them :)
im going to get a pack and see how they are, i agree the ones for £1-2 just don't smell strong enough and they sure dont last long...
i will let you all know what i think when i get mine through...:money:
  • Just discovered https://www.casacandles.co.uk , lots of different brands, inc yankee, some good prices if you've got a few mins to spare to have a good look around. Also studio24 have got some very good discounts on village candles, seen lots of good reviews for those so might give them a go. Apologies for going off topic & not being 100% yankee! :)

think gingerbread is always a good test for wax - so many smell really artificial and 'waxy' but now and again you get a lovely natural smelling one.
Looking forward to hearing how strong they are too. I've found a few good strong wax brands out there but always open to new stuff!

I didn't try the Yankee jars because I think are were wasteful.

Went with Yankee votive's and really happy, they last ages and smell lovely. They burn down to almost nothing then the dregs go in the bin, no glass jars to worry about.

I stock up when there is a bargain to be had like on Groupon, out of season sampler packs (they are full size votive's) or after Christmas when a tip on here saw me buy loads in Clintons for 90p each :D

I can only smell votives if I cut them up and put them in a melt warmer as my kitchen is over 26 x 14 ft and my sense of smell isn't what it used to be (after burning candles over 10 years). Votives work out slightly cheaper than using YC melts as there's more wax in them for not a lot more money, or the same cost (£1) if you buy the Simply Home range from Asda
  • after a bit of time searching, i've found a wholesaler who stocks village candles & does delivery.
pretty good prices, £6.99/small, £9.99/med, £11.99/large - delivery not too bad either, 3-5 days, Up to 1kg £3.75,
    1kg - 2kg £4.75 (not Rep of Ireland).

i'm ordering 2 medium jars, £11.86 each with delivery inc, so that's me sorted for now :)
