That's impossible-the average use in the UK is around 16,500kWh pa for gas and 3,300kWh for electricity,

I do wonder where these averages come from.

I have a three bed semi with double glazing, gas CH. There's just the two of us, no kids. Gas is about 25,000kWh pa and elec is about 4,000kWh.

You absolutely certain your only being charged £102 for a years gas and £270 for a years electricity in a 4 bedroom house!!!!

I can't see that being true.. No offence. BUT

    £102 divided by 12 months = £8.50 a month for gas.

    £270 divided by 12 months = £22.50 a month for electric.

Seriously you only pay £31 per month for both gas and electric, pull the other one! LOL

And come on £270 a year for electric (if thats right) is nothing, doesn't matter if you use the computer 24/7 if your bill is only £270 a year for electric (highly unlikely) would mean you only pay,

0.73 pence per day which over 1 week only adds up to £5.17

    Same with your gas,

Based on what your saying you'd be paying,

0.27 pence per day which over 1 week only adds up to £1.95

As I said HIGHLY unlikely with the electric, and not a chance your only using £1.95 a week in gas, I'm surprised no ones questioned this before...

It sounds as though he doesn't switch the heating on at all.
    In Progress!!!

the avg home 2/3bed terrace 2/3 occs should usage £1/1.5 per day of electric. gas depends on if a combi boiler and if electric shower used rather than bath. in the summer gas usage about £5 per week in the winter £5 per day for 7hrs at 18c.
your direct debit is worked out based on what you owe and what they forcast you will use between now and april (they dont want you owing them money)
there are 15 weeks of winter left so asuming that you have 4 dd payments till april review the avg home would be expected to use £525 in 15 weeks and if you owe £171 that makes 4x 174=696

you may use more/less or owe more/less
    debt £17000 balance 1/12/12 £2978.36
    PPI claims £4183.46
    savings £1400
    weight loss 2/18 lbs
    Quid co £.80

national avg is taken from usage in all uk domestic dwelling divided out
they count empty properties and very large ones as well as holiday homes its an un realistic figure many larger older homes use far more on the gas as well as elderly house bound people
