£174 Month Gas Bill...is this normal?

I'd say £174p/m is actually a hell of a lot, in a 4 bed house with my girlfriend currently out of work, we have the heating set to 21 degrees (so, pretty much constant from 7am til 10:30pm) and it only costs us £86p/m last month0

during the very cold winter 2 years ago i asked a lot of pensioners what their quarterly bills were and £400 bills for the three winter months were not uncommon for bungalows and 3 bedders. now with a 20% hike since then , that will be the norm for disabled and pensioners stuck indoors all day0

Last month
This month, -4c overnight and 0c common you can add perhaps 40% to that bill this month0 -
I think this cold snap is finally going. The weather people said on Thursday, then the rain will come.
I do not like either! it is raining this evening.
As above post, I wish my house was 21C. I think the CH on all that time will mean a costly bill. the £86 is just for gas?
Funny, in the peak of heat in summer when the heat in the house reached 30C I was wishing it was cooler:o/
now it is 17.4C.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
i am currently on a duel fuel tarrif with eon, i have a 4 bedroom house with a bosch worcster 37cdti greenstar combi boiler which is always time controlled, all my lights are leds or energy savers yet my monthly bill is £240 per month, any ideas?0

Do you have debt on the account? Estimated or actual readings?
If you post your actual annual kWh consumption for each fuel, then meaningful advice can be given. The size of your DD tells us nothing about your actual usage. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
i have no debt on the account, eon estimated my gas usage at 132.66kwh per month and my electric 29kwh this month
i normally submit reading but havent this month0 -
i have just checked my annual usage of gas is 1107 kwh and 332pwh elec0

That's impossible-the average use in the UK is around 16,500kWh pa for gas and 3,300kWh for electricity, assuming that you have gas CH and DHW. And your property is larger than the average-your figures are less than 10% of the average!
If those figures were correct, your monthly bill on the cheapest npower tariff would be around £13 (not £240), or £160 per year!
How did you arrive at those figures? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I live in a 4 bedroom terrace house on my own and spent £102 for the year's gas and £270 for my year's elecric. I don't mind it cold though. I do use the computer a lot and think that is why the elecric bill is so high.
You absolutely certain your only being charged £102 for a years gas and £270 for a years electricity in a 4 bedroom house!!!!
I can't see that being true.. No offence. BUT
£102 divided by 12 months = £8.50 a month for gas.
£270 divided by 12 months = £22.50 a month for electric.
Seriously you only pay £31 per month for both gas and electric, pull the other one! LOL
And come on £270 a year for electric (if thats right) is nothing, doesn't matter if you use the computer 24/7 if your bill is only £270 a year for electric (highly unlikely) would mean you only pay,
0.73 pence per day which over 1 week only adds up to £5.17
Same with your gas,
Based on what your saying you'd be paying,
0.27 pence per day which over 1 week only adds up to £1.95
As I said HIGHLY unlikely with the electric, and not a chance your only using £1.95 a week in gas, I'm surprised no ones questioned this before...0
