  • Hi,

Cannot post links but go to justice.gov.uk/courts/rcj-rolls-building/court-of-appeal/civil-division/questions-and-answers.

There is some reference to working days in the remission of fees, but not anywhere else, as far as I can see. From my experience it has always been working days, as 21 days would be 31/12/2014 and six weeks would work out to 21/01/2015. Six weeks in working days would be 26/01/2015.

Seems that we will all just have to sit tight and wait for the puff of white smoke!:)
  • I have enquired with the nram press office and receive this response.

Thank you for your enquiry into the UKAR Press Office relating to the High Court's decision regarding NRAM's declaratory proceedings - NRAM plc v McAdam & Hartley

The NRAM board is still considering the decision on whether to appeal. When the legal process is complete and we have determined the appropriate course of action, we will communicate with any affected customers to outline next steps and any actions we are taking, if required.

The NRAM Board will meet shortly to discuss the judgment and determine next steps. The Board may decide to take further legal advice before making this decision.
If the Board decides to seek permission from the Court to appeal, this must be done by 14 January 2015 (this was originally the 31st December which was extended due to the Christmas holidays). If permission is granted, this does not, however, determine whether the Board will appeal or not. The decision simply gives the Board the right to appeal.

I trust this answers your specific questions.

That's the kind of info that should have been displayed publicly, rather than the secretive cloak and dagger style of announcement. They have every right to appeal, so why not tell people openly that they have had the deadline extended? Very poor management skills!

You would have thought that with interest being added at the rate of £3m per month, they would have been more proactive and had an emergency board meeting, before now. I would hope that the NRAM press office will also be more proactive in putting information out in the public domain......

I'm not sure if the cause lists will list an appeal being sought, does anybody out there know?

  • Is there anyone out there that has had a successful experience with NRAM.
I had a together mortgage of £200,000 which including a loan of £25000. Stuck on an high interest rate of nearly 8% monthly interest only payment of £1300.
Things got difficult -they wouldn't help. We paid nearly £60000 and sold the house for £90000- nearly £150000 back to NRAM!
No they arguing shortfall is £130000!!!!!!
Anybody out there .. With any help, advice, similar experience ???
I have been in negotiation for 2years now since the house was sold ... The are exceptionally difficult, incoherent and difficult to work with ..
I'll never give up on this and I believe there is a way through I just haven't found it yet ..
  • Still no news! Hopefully we'll know either way soon...

They have until Wednesday to appeal, but due to previous form don't expect any formal communication from them in the near future, either way!
  • I'd be very suprised if they don't at least seek permission to appeal. I know it's £3m per month in interest but if they pay out it'll cost around £250m. I bet they'll be under considerable political pressure to do everything to avoid / defer (until after election) payment...
