Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 13th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
I should be jumping in the shower, but it's so damn cold I'm still plucking up the courage.
Yesterday I was in trouble for not responding to some emails, turns out they'd been sent to the wrong email address, the last remark of the telling off was 'Next time you don't receive an email, you must make more effort to find out why'.
Since I didn't know they were being sent, how am I meant to do that?
Yesterday I was the only person on duty in 3 playgrounds, someone who was told to share the duty with me decided she'd rather stay in the warm and still claim her £17, whereas I froze for £5, grrr & brrr. Roll on the end of term.
Oh dear I seem to be whinging again, I must try to be more cheerful.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

morning everyone, very cold here too and I have gone back to bed for half an hour with a cup of tea and sneaked my two doggies up with me to keep my feet warm.
At work we saw the after effects of the M6 chemical lorry fire yesterday, all the local roads and major routes surrounding the area were gridlocked for hours due to the volume of traffic etc, getting home to the next village was an awful journey, I felt so sorry for everyone sitting on the motorway for up to 7 hours and am glad there were no serious injuries or fatalities, a huge number of our staff were stuck on the M6 for up to 5 hours yesterday trying to get into work, and then a lot of them again going home, same amount of work half the staff and then an hour and half home stuck in traffic didnt make for a good day
Hester, I dont think you are whinging, you are just sounding off which is no bad thing and seem to have good reason too! I have to wonder sometimes how some people get into positions of authority when they can say such things without thinking them through. Do they not realise the stupidity of their comments? and then to blame you for not receiving something because of someone else's error is madness. Lets hope today is a better day, at least its one day closer to FridayDont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'

Morning chums another chilly morning,I have the school run this morning then another trip with DGS Danny to take him to his pals house as they are four of them going off to Amsterdam this morning for a few days,I think they are going to see a band or something with an odd name.Great city to visit I have been there many times and have always enjoyed it.
I have my fingers crossed that my invention of wrapping the front of my car in recycling bags has worked as its a bit on the frosty side I'll have to go out a bit earlier to make sure the windscreen is ok as I have no de-icer left.if it works then I have saved a few bob
:) Also have some baking to fit in today,a tin full of melting moments and a Victoria sponge cake
Right time for a cuppa, shower and some breakfast methinks,
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
Cheers chums

Good morning all,
Very chilly here this morning. Not such a sharp frost as yesterday though.
Hester, hope you have a better day at work.
Hubby has got to take me to work as my car is still at the garage. I think my Mum may have to take us tomorrow if i still haven't got it as hubby goes back to work. No buses and such a long walk of roads with no paths. The cars come fast a long those roads too, so not a good walk.
Sausage, egg, waffles, beans, mushrooms and tomatoes for tea. Not healthy but quick and easy and it will get rid of the waffle box from the freezer. I need to make room for some Christmas shopping. I don't go over the top at all but i do like to stock up a bit so there is no rush to go shopping in the new year.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Hi B/B he's been working on the Alan Titmarsh show for a couple of months and is due back on Pointless in mid- January,if he does go back, as he's been offered another contract with A.T. show and can't make his mind up.He loves Pointless, but the new offer could make him an assistant producer within two years which would be a good step up the ladder for him.
His Mum Shelley has seen her consultant and been told that if she feels OK to either work from home or only a couple of hours a day.She is going in this morning as she has a big finance meeting (she is the schools finance manager with a several million pound budget) so she wants to go to that, then she will only been doing an hour or so a day to keep up and the rest of her work she can do at home for a few weeks.
Any one see the Weight programme last night on t.v.I felt sorry for some of the folk on there but it seems a lot think that a gastric band or balloon is a quick fix .I thought the surgeon was amazingly patient

Morning all

Cold again here. DD having another day off as she was still snuffly and subdued last night. I haven't been outside yet, but I expect the pets water bottles will need de-icing.
DS2 has his German mock this morning, then I said I'd take him to see The Hobbit - I loved The Lord of the Rings trilogy so I hope this is good too!
House is desperate for a good clean, but i'm trying to finish knitting DH's Xmas jumper (front and back done, now on first sleeve) and cos I hate cleaning anyway, I'm spending every spare moment on that instead.
Have a great day all, and BB - I hope you enjoy the kids plays!0 -
