BT Net Protect Plus Problem

I am having a problem since yesterday opening email attachments. The security product suggests blocking the download of any attachment.

Have chatted online to BT Help and was told there is a problem with Internet Explorer being corrupted.

They suggest changing my browser to Mozilla firefox or google chrome and resetting the Home Hub.

Or can I wait until they resolve and safely open known reliable content from trusted sources? i.e checked elsewhere.

Anybody else got this problem and welcome any advice from experts to a non expert.
