Buyer claims item not received

I don't think mine show any dates, just that international delivery times vary and to contact the seller for more details (when sent via Airmail).
Under promise, over deliver is well outside eBay's thinking.
Fortunately the overseas customers are great and very patient but the newer members tend to hit with Paypal claims or negs without contact after 2 weeks if they are new to international buying and the delays that might occur.
Mine do get delivery estimates even overseas (they vary though even on the same item). I also have delivery estimates for items I am expecting from the far east and Germany but they are much longer than similar ones on items I sell.
These delivery estimates are a real farce.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I sold an item for about £80 on Sunday 2nd Dec and posted it out the next day.
I very stupidly sent it standard parcels.
The buyer contacted me last Friday (the parcel was only sent Mon!) claiming that it hadn't arrived. I answered back asking if he would leave it a few more days. He got back to me today asking for a refund.
I really feel that he may be trying it on.
I realise that Ebay will find in his favour but i don't want to make life easy for him. Any advice?
Thanks in advance.
Refund. Nothing else you can do. Phoning delivery offices at this time of year is crackers.
People moan on about postage upselling on this forum. It's unlikely you weren't asked about the value - it's a standard question.
It's pointless worrying whether it's a scam or not. You basically asked for it.0 -

You've clearly not been in a delivery office in December. Do you really think they have time to do a Sherlock for one piece of post?
One that may or may not have even arrived yet? Unless it's been posted to Waltons Mountain.0 -

I go to one every day of the week and whilst it may be hard getting through to those in major towns, in rural areas it should be fine. If it's a massive parcel they won't have to look very hard (they do sort the post when storing it for collection rather than just throwing it in a big, random pile!)In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

I agree.
Makes you wonder how many sellers who say their DSR's were unfairly trashed treated those buyers!
In the eyes of some all buyers are guilty so maybe I should start assuming that about the sellers?0 -

I was in mine at 8:30. Absolutely chokka. Of course, I didn't realise it was a rural area, where they just stand around chewing straw all day. And it will be the only massive parcel they have had. Doddle really.0 -

The point is the OP is RM's customer and it's not their concern whether RM is busy or not, it will take OP 5 minutes to pick up the phone, they might not get an answer, they might get fobbed off, they might find the parcel. For 80 quid it's worth trying, and particularly not in the morning before work/after school run or in the evening after work as then it will be busiest.
If you can't be bothered to chase 80 quid, good for you, you must be very well off but seeing as this is a money saving site I'd say spending 5 minutes to see if you can save 80 quid fits well with the intention of the site, wouldn't you?In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
