Non paying bidders - why?
Comments

Like the OP I have sold on eBay for seven years with few hiccups...until this month! Two non-paying buyers and one who, frankly, was an utter clown! (He wasn't happy that he was blocked from buying an item - because he had NPB strikes - doh!!!)
I fully agree that raising claims thro' the resolution centre is the way to go, not least to allow you to get a refund of FVFs, and blocking buyers with two or more strikes.
However why are these strikes not visible? We're unable to leave feedback on these cases but nothing, that I can see, appears on the NPBs members details.
I no longer feel any compassion towards NPBs - I used to think "Oh what if they've...." Now I just start the claim process after four days if they haven't attempted to contact me.Decluttering, home-making and 'proper' cooking are my priorities this year and trying to finish all those unfinished hobby projects before spending any more money!0 -
I don't need to see whether a buyer has strikes, all I need is for them to be blocked if they have 2 or more.craft-a-holic wrote: »Like the OP I have sold on eBay for seven years with few hiccups...until this month! I don't have time to vet my buyers independently so I wouldn't see they were a problem until I had my own problems with them and checked their account.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I suppose you could classify non bidders!
There's the ones that bid in the last minute but don't read the description properly, then discover it's not what they wanted.
There's the ones that don't do their research properly, then discover after winning that they could have bought it cheaper off Amazon.
There's the opportunist bidders who use their parents/sibling's account withhout their permission, then have no way of paying.
There's the "my cat/mother/husband died" type who try to come up with an elaborate excuse who in reality have bought something they don't need or can't afford.
In my case, I nearly became a NPB when I won an auction by bidding from my phone, then for some reason PP refused to let me log in. Luckily the seller was fine with me paying 5 days later when I got home, as I didn't have any other internet access!
I've never had a NPB, but wouldn't do a mutual. It takes a conscious effort to bid, so no need to cancel.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Most peculiar...
Did the NPB, closed the case....
Now I see they've left glowing positive feedback and the stars must be all good too! (I don't sell much, so any deviation on stars is often easy to spot
)
Will never understand folk, so why bother trying!

Peculiar indeed. I didn't seem to think feedback could be left after a NPB case, as it certainly doesn't let me leave feedback (although I am aware I can only generally leave positive feedback as a seller) for the NPB case I've just had.0 -
Feedback physically can't be left after a full NPb dispute unless buyer corresponded through the dispute console.
Op are you sure you did a full NPB and not a mutual and closed it correctly by opting for ' buyer did not pay'?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I thought I had, but my internet was playing up and I obviously lost connection at a crucial moment.
Have done so now and the feedback they left was removed instantly.
Thanks for the nudge
