Inconsistent Vodafone Signal

I have had an iPhone 3GS/4S for just under the last 3 years on Vodaphone with no problems. However, over the last 2 or 3 weeks the signal I receive at home is very inconsistent.

Most of the time it just displays 'No Service'. My wife has the 4S as well and it's the same on her phone. When I try to ring her, most of the time it goes straight answer phone and vise versa.

It's getting really frustrating now, at first I thought maybe a transmitter was faulty, but it seems to be going on too long now.

I have not yet contacted Vodafone, that's my next step, but I don't want them to just try and sell me the sure signal as it has been fine for the last 3 years.

My phone is fully updated and at the latest firmware.

Any suggestions?

    That should be your first step! There may be BTS issues and they can tell you this if you give them your postcode.

    Just phoned Vodafone and they said they reason is that they are updating the transmitters in my area to 4G and advised that I turn off the 3G while at home to improve the signal.
