Saying that i think CRT looks best i could care less how much space it takes.
If it was £700 it wouldn't have been a 1080 compatable one. If i was buying one now i would definately go for a 1080 one as it is more future proof.
Rear projection Tv's never used to be good but Sony are obviously taking it seriously making them HD and making them slimmer in design

Some good infomation here :-

On a screen that size I'd say that SD channels are going to look awful, also just because you paid £220 for a DVD player doesn't mean its an upscaling one.
To the poster who had a 37 inch TV, what size room do you have, I currently have a 32 inch LCD but want to get a 37 inch screen, we sit about 7ft from the TV0 -
just found this, ...

I know its not a great make, but for a bargain price it might suit someone.
Hope it helps;)0 -

Have a look at What TV magazine this month. It talks about developments in both LCD and Plasma.
I understand that both technologies will be fine but look out for more TV's being full HD this year ie 1080 lines instead of 720.
If you are not going HD either with skyHD,cable,xbox360 or PS3 then I wouldn't worry too much about full HD and instead get regular HD TV but be sure to use the fact that there is new technology around the corner to beat the price down.0 -
Its also were considering that Sky only now, and for the foreseeable future broadcast in 1080i.
1080p is great, but unless your going Blueray\PS3 you won't be taking advantage of it anytime soon.0
