i suppose it depends on the size of your house and what your current water rates are.I have a water meter as my house was built after the cut off point so i had no choice . i have had one for 20 years but i think if i had a choice i would prefer not to. Now there is only me in the house most of the time but i am sooo consious of the water i am using to the point where i dont enjoy having a bath anymore as i don't have it deep to avoid paying more in water use.I guess this may just be me though in trying to cut down on whatever i can !

It depends on the rateable value(RV) of your property and what company supplies your water.

You can find the RV on your bill, or ring the water company.

Post it and we can give an estimate.

Even if it wasn't, having one fitted to see is a no-brainer, since you can revert to RV billing within the first 12 months anyway.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

That really depends on how you use water, some are not water wasters and some use loads, how many wash loads do you do, do you use the bath or shower, how deep do you fill the bath, how long do you stay under the shower, do you wash under a running tap or fill the sink/bowl. Do you use a hose or watering cans in summer for the garden etc.
All this has to be taken into account and then try to see what is right for you.
My parents have a water meter and rather than run the tap to get the hot water through to do dishes they boil a kettle, all seems a bit silly to me if you are frightened to use water because it may up the bill (which could well be lower than it would be when billed and not metered!).
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
  • I think all the water companies have modellers on their website so you can estimate it.

3 bed semi, 2 of us in all day and my water averages at £18 a month, last year it was £20.

It's a no brainer, how much are you paying annually now.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Depends on where you live too. You can check the price of water and waste water and any standing charges on your suppliers website. Most people would use around 50 cubic metres per person per year. At about £2 a cubic metre that would be £100 per year per person plus standing charges which in my area come to around £100 a year so a house with 2 people the annual bill would be estimated around £300 divided by 12 is £25 a month.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
