How are they? From friends maybe but you will need one or two if not had the last job for 3 years or more from your last employer and the one before.BrettMorganxD wrote: »character refs are pretty easy to get, I will get one character one basic old one prob won't reply it has been nearly 2 years
Character refs are normally as an addition to professional ones to get an idea as to what kind of person you are. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Not for care work. Unless part of your new leaf is a new profession. Employers are required to disclose relevant matters, and dismissal is a relevant matter. As is being investigated by your previous employer. Or while we were reinventing ourselves, were we also working out how to reinvent history? Does the angency know that allegations of bullying had been made against you and were being investigated? Or about any of the other matters in terms of care and colleagues that seemed to pop up with regularity?0 -

Just don't try to offer a logical response!

Yup, logic has absolutely no place on this thread. Brett seems to think that as he's decided to 'turn a new leaf' (note; this leaf-turning is as yet untested since he only decided a day ago), he should somehow be able to wipe the slate clean of his previous work misdemeanours and quality issues.
Again Brett - you say you haven't bullied so handing in your notice before the matter can be investigated, running off to N.Ireland with your tail between your legs and somehow expecting to get good references is at best illogical and at worst plain barmy.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

the old agency i worked for knew id been dismissed. This one don't yet as I have only got as far as sending my cv to them0 -
Brett can i just say 1 thing, your sig says your saving for a house deposit so can you not have that as your target/goal and just concentrate on a job (knuckle down, do the job the best you can) rather than getting yourself into strife and ending up being dismissed. Otherwise you wont be able to save up for a deposit will you.0

This has got nothing to do with being gracious. Care standards and the regulations that accompany them are there for the protection of vulnerable people against risk from those employed to care for them. Any employer, including an agency, who fails to adhere to those standards is endangering vulnerable people and themselves. Any I am sorry, because this is not about Brett, but I think that any care worker who attempts to hide, or fails to disclose, relevant information, should not be working in this field. Or would you be satisfied to entrust the care of your loved ones to inadequately screened individuals? CRB checks are only part of the process and this is why the standard of information required on references is expected to be higher.0 -

I'm pretty sure that VfM4meplse was being sarcastic - saying that your post was far too sensible for a thread that belongs to Brett. I don't think they were actually suggesting you needed to be gracious...!!!' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

I will disclose and explain the whole situation at interview, better at that stage0
