Morning all,
my word was i suprised when i looked out of my bedroom window this morning. The frost was so heavy i thought it had been snowing. I went to bed shattered last night and it took me ages to drift off as i couldnt get warm. Even my usual trick of wrapping myself in the duvet (like a sleeping bag) didnt work. I watched telly on my phone for a bit and finally drifted off.
I'm going to tackle the windows today ive decided and maybe the skirting boards downstairs. Both are jobs i dont do very often.
Time to face the music i hope all goes well at the hospital. Hubby has a hospital appointment on Thursday, just a routine follow up from the cortisone injection he had in his ankle a few weeks ago.
Talking about hubby, work has asked him to go in over Christmas. It appears that £200 a day is still not enough to tempt him.

General housework today, and a visit to dad, wrapping presents this afternoon.
Pork mash and veg for dinner, and a meeting at dd's college about her trip abroad next year.
Molly love the wreath xx
Judi, try tucking a pillow down your back at night xx0 -

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning all !
Hester and Going4, sorry to hear that work isn't good at the moment. I know how that feels, over the years I spent too long being stressed at work. In fact, on Friday I was really stressed, somebody was hounding me to do something, which I was doing quickly as I could, but somebody else had caused me delays! I'm not back at work until Thursday, so, as a part time person I do find it easier to switch off, but when I worked full time, it felt as if I could never be away from it.
Time to face the music, hope you appointment is ok today.
JackieO mentioned Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. I read that book a while ago, and enjoyed it, as I love the Tudor period of history. I did find that the author had a strange way of phrasing things so I sometimes had to read a paragraph two or three times to make sense of it. I will read Bring Up The Bodies as soon as it comes out on Kindle at a reasonable price.
As for me, I've got to go out soon to run some errands. Will have to wrap up warm as it's still frosty.
When I return, I'll wrap the Christmas presents.
Spaghetti bolognese for dinner tonight, one of my favourites.
Have a good dayEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Morning all.
Yes, you've guessed it. The reason I'm here so early is that I'm supposed to be downstairs making a pathway through the rubbish in the breakast room. It always seems grand to me, referring to the 'breakfast room'. Hoping you are impressed and very glad you can't actually see it.
HH & GFTD I not only hate driving at night, I won't do it. I don't feel safe and would never forgive myself if I hurt anyone (or their car).
Being unhappy at work must be appalling. I met someone the other day who had just retired and he confessed that he had hated every day of his working life. What an awful way to have to live! He said that the only way he got through was to keep his mind firmly on the cheque at the end of the month.
I don't know if anyone can help me. In the last few weeks someone posted something that they had read and they thought would amuse us. It made me laugh and I wrote it out to keep. Now I can't find it and fear it went out with the recycling. I can't find it again and wonder if it was someone on here was responsible for posting it and if they could please tell me when it was so I can copy it out again.
The Rev has discovered that she can use her computer very slowly, using just her left hand. HALLELUJAH!
Today I start on my list of things that must be done before Christmas. It covers 2 sides of A4 but I feel bitter, I mean better, for having it in black and white.
Coffee first.

Afternoon All
In my calender a snowman:snow_laug
Freezing fog here today and it hasn't lifted, in fact it seems to be getting thicker, very chilly as well, but I refuse to put the heating on. So I am layered up well with my fingerless gloves on. I can't wait till we can afford the log burner.
Dinner tonight is beef stew and dumplings, just the thing for a cold day like today. I am making four to save on energy as well, because my stews have three to four hours in a low oven depending on the meat. I have a slow cooker, but tbh it is rubbish it cooks at too high a heatSo if I cook four in the oven and freeze three that will still save me 12 hours of electricity
.
Oh well the sooner I get them prepared the sooner the kitchen will warm up

You know perfectly well you are neither useless or a lump - big gentle hug. It is horrible when you feel unable to do what you used to but you still have your personality and spirit and most of all your caring ability. I am sure you get far more accomplished than you realise or give yourself credit for. We are human beings not human doings (cheesy but true).:o
Hester and GTD
Hope that work gets better for you both and you can enjoy the holidays.
DD has gone out for injection at med centre. DH has had posh yellow stickered lunch and is feeling spoilt. Washing is on line outside and I am browsing on here for a while.
Tonight will be pork chop, buttery mash and stir fried veg from bits and bobs in the fridge.
Still need to write Christmas cards and look out home made stockings and wrapping paper for later. Had a long shopping day yesterday so having a quiet day today and waiting in for parcels to be delivered for dds.

Boy what a great day, I was given a b0ll0king in the corridor by a senior staff member, I felt this was totally unprofessional behaviour, as at least 10 people could hear what was being said, though no doubt me throwing up my hands & yelling 'Whoa' was also unprofessional. I feel I should have been b0ll0cked in private, actually I shouldn't have been b0ll0cked at all, as the problem was caused by someone else & not by me!
Three hours later same staff member is groveling because they need a favour.
Roll on end of term!
Have a good evening everyone.
Hugs Hester
