No sherlock - I would have sold them yes - I don't try to hide this - but I am a consumer yes thank as are you and everyone else.
Not if you bought them to sell on - that makes you a business in the eyes of the law and as such you don't have any consumer rights at the time the items were purchased.

What goes on in your head at the time you make the purchase is very important. The court would want you to prove you have 43 grandchildren, not automatically take your side just because Argos make a large profit.

OK that's great - I definately have been greedy I know and thanks for the balanced reply - I feel some people on here have it in for me I neively bought 43 of them I know that shame would have made my familys christmas! Next time i will buy 1 or 2.
  • Buying one or two and saving some money at xmas would have been fine, buying 43 and then talking of going to court over an obvious mistake is a little silly.

Ok so you won't get compensation.

You have gained a £10 voucher.

To be fair when confronted by that sort of deal I would have worked out what I would be able to make and whether it would be worth me purchasing out of savings in order to make a quick buck and earn far, far more than I would spend. OP is only human in seeking to take advantage - it's not as if they are stealing them from a warehouse or they fell off the back of a lorry - but should accept that Argos also have a right, whether big or small a company, to shut down such deals before they get out of hand.

Merely exploiting a bargain/less-than-retail price is not in itself immoral; it's the reason wholesalers and cash-and-carries exist to service the retail trade and distribute manufacturers' products. There are some societies which frown on wholesalers, particularly for staple items like food, but not many.

Consumer law doesn't protect businesses. Buying to resell makes you a business. The CEO of Argos is a consumer when he/she buys their groceries. In this case you are as much a business as Argos is.

Take them to court if you want to but don't dress it up as a consumer issue.

Also, if you are going to take it to court....
    1) you might want to get this thread deleted
    2) better register as a business quick so that you can then show that you are doing it all above board.
No point doing all this and then getting the Inland revenue knocking at your door.
