  • I have also seen this on my current account statement today for £160.00 but am at a loss as to who this company is. Does anyone else know? Otherwise I will have to contact my bank to try and find out. So, Pookie5488, you are not alone!

For such a large amount I presume you'd remember if you'd genuinely spent that. I'm not 100% sure but I thought what comes up on the credit card statement is essentially just the reference the company want's to use to identify itself but doesn't necessarily reflect the companies' actual name.

Interesting and definitely plausible, and the "MPI", psychicalbert? I'm guessing might be the initials of the banking company that's doing the netaccess on line banking.

My spirits are telling me "merchant plug-in", but they are often wrong on Tuesdays, it's not a good day for psychic activity.

I have also had this odd merchant identity show up on my current account when I checked my online statements today, but for the amount of £50, which I couldn't account for initially.

But in case it helps alleviate anybody elses worries I did eventually pinpoint what i believe to be the source in my particular case after a few hours of racking my brain. I payed this amount onto my Virgin Credit Card through their own online payment system, which I guess uses the safer pay merchant plugin linked to above.

Before tracking down the transaction I'd contacted my bank about this, they told me that it was a transaction in which my card was swiped and my pin number was used, and that it occured at 10:35am on Tuesday 17th April. Obviously, this was a bit of false information by the bank which had thrown me off, as the card had not been swiped and I'd put the transaction through on the preeceding Sunday afternoon. So don't expect what the bank tells you to match up exactly with what you may have done as these electronic systems can misinform.

    Hope this helps!! :)

hi its the new way mbna have of showing your c/card payments
  • hi its c/card company mbna
  • This appears on your statement if you made a payment to MBNA (Virgin Credit Card in my case). The regular direct debits reference going out from your account has a different reference.
