Would you pay extra for a better delivery service?

I was discussing this with someone yesterday and she was contrasting the poor service you get with some couriers with the excellent service you get from others.
Suppose you had the option of paying extra and getting a specified morning or afternoon delivery slot (not a choice, just being told) and a phone call between two and three hours before delivery.
How much would you be prepared to pay for that?

Should this not go in discussion time? Don't see that it's a "praise, vent or warning?"This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Also you're a bit limited in your money bands. With amazon you can pay extra for their very good DPD service, however that costs £8.
A price for delivery of a quid is not going to get you a decent service! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

£1I'd rather companies were forced to say which couriers they use. Makes it easier to avoid hermes and yodel.0

I'd be happy to pay a few £ more if I could select the courier for instance, because I have a firm favorite.
I don't think I could afford to pay it every time, but I would love the option to be there.
With Zoo Plus on orders over £19 it's free with Yodel or £0.50 for ParcelForce.0 -
I agree that if you've had problems with one particular courier more than once, and theres an option not to choose that courier for a bit more ie 50p, then that could be an attractive option.
I haven't voted, because so far I have not had any problems with any courier delivery to my address, including Hermes and Yodel.0 -

Yes, it clearly says 'extra' in the title.
And I don't think there is a courier with a 25p service. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
It seems to me that home courier deliveries vary according to how diligent the employee is.
I will use a firm who uses Royal Mail over one who uses a courier every time.0 -

I haven't had any major problems either - unless you count having to wait in all day for a delivery that turns up at the very last possible moment.
I would be very happy to pay a supplement to be told whether the delivery would be in the morning or afternoon. And a little more to get a phone call a couple of hours or so before delivery. It would make things a lot easier to arrange and should not be difficult for someone with a bit of nous to organise. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Fair enough I missed that. I still think your bands are too low as the "premium service" you have described tends to cost more than a quid. I personally would happily pay £5 to receive the service described in your original post.
