Help me! I am going mad. The patient is very impatient and I've done nothing today but make tea and coffee for visitors, cook meals and tasty snacks and answer calls of, "Can you come and sit down here, I'm bored."

Not one parcel has been wrapped, not one card written, the ironing mountain grows daily, the mincemeat is still in its component parts in various packages and I have yet to plan a carol service for Wednesday. (One of the Rev's tasks I have inherited.)

Well, I guess Christmas will happen whether I'm ready or not. And it looks as though it's most likely to be 'or not'.

Molly: Wow! That wreath is gorgeous. You'd spend a fortune on one like that in the shops.

Judi: Quite right too. We're all standing beside you with supportive placards.

Am off to have a quick browse through before I am recalled to my nursing duties. Grrrrrrrr. Florence Nightingale I am not.

    It i so easy.....

You can buy a wreath base from florist - it is basically a plastic circle with Oasis inside.

Soak the base - float it on water oasis side down and let it sink - dont push it.

Cut foliage - cut in advance and steep it in fresh water for a few days so it has plenty of time to drink water. All our foliage apart from Eucalyptus was foraged. We used:
Box, conifer, yew, ivy (some sprayed gold) holly, Choicea (sp?) as the basis.

First tie some rafia or ribbon at the top

So we started with the box. For each individual piece we stripped the plant back snipping pieces that were about 3-4 inches for top part and a bit smaller for sides and inside the wreath.

Each piece should have the bottom leaves stripped back and a pointy end and kinda stab it into the oasis and dont push it too far

You randomly put pieces in wherever the fancy and if like me try not to be too regimental:o

It needs to be full. Put it on the floor and stand over it.

Then wire up some cones with some thin craft wire and place them, dried orange, and cinnamon sticks. I also folded some orangey maple leaves and wired them. There was some seeds pods at the top.

Once made it should last four weeks. It needs taking down and watering twice a week.

Honestly if I can do it then anyone can although I had help cutting up the plants as my hand eye coordination is poor and muscle strength is non existent. It was great fun stabbing in the pieces of plant:T:T:T

    evening all

thinking of those who are poorly.

feeling hard done by tonight...made the most gorgeous chicken pie and ive just got the filling as im still doing sw and i need to loose 3 pounds in the next two weeks to get to my goal. dont feel too sorry for me as i was very naughty last week.
i think im just feeling grumpy. my daughter gets off the bus in just her thin shirt and then proceeds to come into my lovely warm house and says shes cold. grrrrrrr.
so... chicken pie today from huge chicken that was a total bargain..i did an asda shop online and i bought a chicken that was just under £5 but when they sent it to me it was £8 so i rang them and they took three pounds off the price. think i will easily get soup and maybe one sandwich from this as well. i did roast for 6 with it yesterday as well!!

this weekend was lovely but far from productive. i felt poorly with a sore throat and headaches so we sat and made pom poms as a family after a big sunday lunch and watched elf. it was lovely. will catch up with the housework over the next couple of days.

molly the wreath looked lovely. so proud of all you crafters

have a good evening. stay safe and warm

    Molly, that wreath is fantastic!
    Marie - How is SIL?
    Judi - Hugs to you.
Monnogran - Big deep breath and count to 10! Hope the Rev recovers soon so that you don't end up poorly.

    Evening All

Cold here but been a beautiful day. DD cooked venison and a mushroom sauce (she saw it on TV yesterday) and it was yummy. Far too much meat for 2 but we managed! The venison was given to us so very OS.

Washing up to date, house clean and 1 christmas tree up, the other will be delivered this week some time. Feeling quite christmassy at the moment, hope it lasts!

Hope everyone stays safe and warm, take care. XX

BB - thank you for that, where do you buy them I looked on the interweb, but the prices vary like mad, @bay has them for £30 for 10 GU10 LeDs, but that seems too cheap - I think you idea of a couple at a time is wise, I will aim for 2 per month
I will ask DH for the link when he gets home from work at 8pm x
