OS Daily - Monday 10th December 2012 OS Daily 10th December Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 10th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning NMLC & all to follow.
Thought would wake up to a very frosty day but no, its quite mild - must have caught the council unawares too because they had actually gritted last night.
Had a lovely weekend, got caught up with the house Saturday then relaxed morning yesterday, out for a very nice buffet lunch then everyone back to ours after.
Today won't be so pleasant, darn Mondays, lots of office work to do
will have the house to myself today though :j
Going to be fish pie for dinner tonight as didn't have it Saturday after all.
Have a great day all & (((hugs))) to whoever needs one.x0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Has been a good weekend, had a lovely meal and a few drinks out with friends on Friday night, DH and I went to the next town to collect an ordered item first thing Saturday morning. He then had opticians appointment, he's going to try vari-focals but there was some doubt as to whether they could make vari-focals for him due to his prescription, but they have worked really hard and they can get the correct prescription made up in Germany - so they will be ordering them and we'll see how he goes - vari-focals can take some time to get used to but will be much better for him if he can stick with it. Also took DS1 to look at mopeds - he picked one and we've paid the deposit, we bought his helmet and jacket so he had something for his birthday day which was yesterday - he's a happy chap. As always we spent more than we wanted but the difference between a second hand 5+ year old bike and a brand new one didn't warrant buying second hand. All in all a good weekend an expensive one but a good one!
Both boys are up and very happy as had a text from the school yesterday to say they have suffered a major flood and school is closed today - they are going to mum and dad's today, DH is taking them when he goes to work shortly and will collect them later.
Lunch yesterday was very nice, the pork joint cooked beautifully although not all the fat turned to crackling there was some so menfolk were happy.
Back to work today for me, thinking it will be another manic Monday!
Dinner tonight will be smoked sausage pasta with creme fraiche sauce.
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Morning all,
Yawns, I woke at 4.10 and couldn't get back to sleep once brain started working overtime.
Had a busy w/end with DGD's. I finally started decorating the house y/day. I made the swag for the inglenook beam so it's all finished and hung up. Hope to get the other beams decorated today and the trees done tomorrow.
I've made a list of ingredients I need for the xmas menus, we're having DD's & OH's & DGD's for the day on the 23rd. 2 vegies and 1 vegan, Oh Joy !!
Just been looking at the gammon in cherry coke recipe, I used ordinary coke last time I cooked it, wonder which is tastier.
DH is up now so I'll strip the bed, re-make it later after it's aired and pop WM on.
Lo roast beef dinner for DH tonight, I fancy some fish & rice.
Got some spicy carrot & tom soup out of the freezer for DH's lunch.
Hope you all stay warm'n'nsafe.
((((Hugs)))) to all 2 or 4 legged poorlies.0 -

Miss tru is finally back at work today. She's had a diarrhea and vomiting bug for two weeks, she did attempt to to go in a couple of times but was sent home again. She was worried about her job, she only started four weeks ago, worked two weeks then was ill. But work have been great about it. She's looking forward to going back, and if I'm honest, so am I :rotfl:
We were going to eat the pheasant the other day but ended up freezing it, we had other things in the fridge that needing using up first. I've never had it but I'm hoping I like it – we've just been told we have an endless supply, free whenever we want it :TBulletproof0 -
Morning All
In my calendar a santa
Frosty this morning and DH woke me up going to work and even though I tried to get back to sleep the amount of traffic using our road as a rat run  meant that it was too noisy, so I just got up.
I think that I will make the cheese straws and mince pies today and put them in the freezer, that is another thing out of the way, I am aiming to do something each day for the next two weeks so that everything will be a doddle from Christmas Eve onwards.
Off for another coffee :coffee: and to get DS up for college.

Morning all,
Mild here today, wm is on with first of 2 loads, will hang both out today, need to drop dd at work at 9 and then back to do some office work, will get that out of the way today.
House was hoovered through yesterday, so a quick tidy round should do it today. Pork for dinner, not sure weather to do a roast or not, I dont like to have them in the run up to xmas, but I have the Dr at 4.30 and a roast can just be left in the oven.
Managed to get dd's presents wrapped yesterday, so only the family ones to do today or tomorrow, I need to post and hand deliver some cards as well.
Have good days all xx

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Oh Molly41 how lovely! I wish i was creative but sadly i'm not.
Morning all,
sharp frost underfoot. Need to go to the post office later but i'm hoping the frost clears up before i go.
Why doesnt my husband learn, the more shi_te he flings in my direction, i'm going to fling it back?
Me: 'you need to get a tie for the wedding, you cant wear the black one you wear for funerals'
Him: 'we need to get you a wig, God knows what the lads at work will think when they look at your hair, i was hoping you would colour it and it would have grown by then'
Me: 'well if you feel like that, stuff you and stuff the wedding. It aint as though i know any of them anyway'.
I wont be going either. No backing down! Stuff him! I didnt want to go anyway, too much pressure to look and act perfect!
Weekend went ok apart from that. Now back to my usual Monday chores, I love Mondays!

Morning all!
Had a good day with friends yesterday. We visited them at their house in Berkshire, and she did a Christmas dinner, my first (and not the last) of the year. We had an orange flavoured Christmas pudding for dessert. She bought that a a local craft fair and if was unusual and delicious.
Monday is my big housework day and I have a load of washing to put on. I'll never know why I seem to have so much washing when it's just the two of us!
I'd better crack on with it
Have a good dayEarly retired - 18th December 2014
