How do I keep same mobile number when taking another contract with same provider?

Hi,

I currently have a contract with Orange and have seen another phone that I now want and the tariff is also on Orange.

Has anyone ever taken out another contract with Orange whilst still having an existing one and had their number transferred across to the new one? I have read that this is called an internal PAC transfer but don't know how true it is?

Any help pleaseeeeeeee??!!

Thanks!

Have you honoured the minimum term agreement with Orange?
If you have then I don't see why retentions cannot match the offer you have seen (airtime and handset) .

The only networks that do this on a regular basis are O2 an Voda (you have to switch the old contract to PAYG first.

Reportedly, Orange do this too, but this depends on your luck. If unlucky, you have to port the number out to another network PAYG sim first, than back to Orangeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

It's called a back door upgrade, You usually get a better deal as a new customer than a retention so it's generally not permitted, and hence why many people have to port to a PAYG card than back.

As DUTR asks have you finished your minimum terms, as otherwise there will be an early termination fee on the first contract, as you'll have to pay that if you transfer the number regardless of where it goes, and have you asked Orange what the straight upgrade cost is to the phone you want. May not be much in it and may be an easier option
