When you are out you may want to leave 2 litter trays around ? Mine wants hers cleaned immediately she has dirtied so she will use it again, and for her she would only use certain litters so it may pay to experiment with the types you use ?. Glad you love them and sure you will have lots of fun with them.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0

going off at a tangent but I'm bursting to tell someone ! I start my first volunteer session at the local cat's protection home on Tues - my official title is Cat Cuddler !!! Can't wait. I foresee the need for a lot of self discipline though if I'm not to smuggle at least one cat home a week ! Him indoors woudn't be very happy - he is most certainly Top Cat in our house.0

I would keep them confined in the one room while you are out, with a couple of trays as mentioned above.
The fewer 'accidents 'there are, the less the chance of a negative pattern being laid which would be hard to break0 -
Thanks all - We have one try upstairs and one downstairs so far - both open trays. They have used the one upstairs fine so far and seem to be pretty ok with sharing and not even particularly shy they've both 'been' whilst people are in the room. We will add a hooded one when they start to have proper free roam.
I am trying out a few litters though as the one I did buy first was just a tesco one and it kept breaking up as I was trying to get the lumps out, I don't want to leave them with smelly bits in the litter.
How good are cats are associating trays with places? I could move the additional tray up into the room while we are out and keep them in there, but then if I move it back down stairs when we are home will that be confusing to them? There's not really room in the upstairs room to have two trays both a reasonable distance from their food and bed.
Cat Cuddler sounds amazing Miss H! The girl we spoke to at the shelter said she could quite easily take them all home if she didn't have harsh words with herself every day!Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...

Soooo glad they're home!
I'd be leaving them confined to one room when you're out ...... TBH I wouldn't worry too much about moving the 2nd tray into the room - if it's for a relatively short period of time they'll be fine with the one tray!

Yay it did!
White face looking at the camera is Oscar (or Ozzybobs as I'm ashamed to say I've been calling him!) - 5 years old.
Brown face at the back is Jake, 3 years old.
So far Jake seems the most confident and is also a greedy guts - he will run between both food bowls picking from each, I think its a throwback to the days when if you didn't eat fast, you didn't eat! He's the smaller of the two by quite a lot.
Ozzy is a little shyer but very playful and fussy when you get him onside. He's taken to sitting on the tall table thing in the hallway surveying the stairs!Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...

Awwwww they are adorable

My dog came from a multi-dog household and literally inhales her food  which we're sure is also down to the "eat it before someone else does" scenario
- she is getting slightly better .....
Sure they'll be settled in no time:) - welcome to the world of being a cat slave!:TGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

They are little sweeties - Jake ventured downstairs earlier while we were sitting eating dinner but only for about 3 seconds! I keep noticing them sitting at the top of the stairs but I'm to ignore them in the hope they'll realise it's normal lol!Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...
