Looking to buy a board game for my parents this year for us to play.

Open to any suggestions, so what board games do you love playing with your family on xmas?

  • Cranium is a good laff :D ... I just looked on amazon for links to it, I am sure it's probably available cheaper elsewhere.

I love Cluedo and bought my husband the Simpsons version a few years ago but never played it yet because you can't play with just 2 players!

Posted this on the Moneysaving Dads forum:

(The OP on there wanted games to play with his children, but these are games I've bought for MrD and I to play with his parents when we go round).

    Rapidough, pictionary, cranium, pictureka.

There's also a new 'create things made out of lego and guess what it is' game out but I haven't played it so don't know how good it is. It's called Creationary

Cheers Mrs D for the suggestions. We have had all the above except Cranium so this may be a shout again...

Played Pointless last year and to be honest, it's not the best game - the rules are quite complicated and hard to understand.

    Rapidough is good.

This is my worry. It isnt even something we actually watch on tv or anything either tbh I only caught it last week on the tv and watched 10 mins of it haha.

    Any other vouches for Cranium?

The problem I have with Cranium is if you have all the others then it's just a mash up of those. Although I enjoyed it I can't help but feel like if I wanted to have a 'playdough' round I'd have just got the Rapidough out... I guess it's good if you can't decide what to play.

    I also quite like Articulate.

Santa always brings us a board game. It is really hard to find ones that MrD and I can play on our own!!

Our family & all we introduce it to love 'Ticket to Ride'. We've played most games but this is one of the best. My son bought it after lots of research & we've gradually added different expansion kits. It's brilliant!
  • Yeh MrsD there isnt many two players out there (although I did see the advert for cluedo today and it apparently is suitable for 2 players!? I did wonder myself though...).

And yeh I know what you mean, we want a good game that will give us a laugh and keep us all amused for an hour or two but at the same time its hard to pick a game at random could end up with something crap! lol
