Buffalo is really excellent make for a hard drive. I have had two different models for more than a year now and they work perfectly (both are Made in Japan). I think this is a reasonable offer (with the discount) but I am not going for it as a mark of protest (and as I don't need one anyway but was tempted).
spec looks ok, probably better than the seagate, but i agree - as a protest i will not buy unless they match the price of the other offer - and i will only us PLAY as a last resort if they sell something i really want and cant find for a similar price elsewhere0 -
I got the email as well, but decided to go ahead with the replacement offer as it is still a good deal.
At the end of the day they could have just cancelled our order and left it at that so I think we are lucky to get offered an alternative drive.0 -

you're probably getting a lower quality drive, paying more and there is no 5 yr guarantee behind it. buggalo use their own discs so who knows what you are getting - or how long your data will last on one...
GOOD LUCK0 -

Buffalo are a great make, at £79.99 it's still the cheapest 500 Gig on the WEB, If you are really after an external HDD, i wouldn't think twice0

If anybody isn't going to be using their voucher, can I please have it, need to buy another drive for a collegue0

I agree with you, Buffalo are excellent. I also have two of their drives. One of them, is the 400GB version of the one on offer, and the other, I have used without problems for 3 years.
it has had mixed reviews on amazon. i guess if you really think it is as good as the seagate and is worth the extra tenner then it might be worth it0 -
Well i just had a dig through my deleted items folder in my email, and i found that i DID receive the promotion code email from play.com with the code for the seagate hard drive in it!!
So they are blatently lying to get out of sending me the item at the reduced price
The email also states that the code expires on midnight 26th april, but if you try and put the code in on the website today (24th) it already says it has expired
Play.com are a bunch of scumbags when it comes to special offers0
