How do I get better internet speeds with Virgin Broadband

I have noticed that during the weekends and in the evening I am getting pretty broadband speeds and nothing close to 30MB more like 6mb. During the night and first thing in the morning it's more like the advertised speed. I called Tech support when I first had it installed and that was a waste of time and a very expensive phone call. On both occasions that I called I think I spoke to a call center in Asia judging by the accent and they didn't tell me anything I couldn't find out for myself. I have changed channels and that didn't help. Anyone know of a solution without having to call an expensive number?
