OS Daily - Sunday 9th December 2012

OS Daily 9th December Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 8th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Where is everyone?! It's 8.45am!! I tripled checked there was no thread already started, pretty sure I didn't miss it!

Today's plans are mainly college work, assignment due tomorrow and I've only done the easy half. So most of today will be spend doing that. If I get it done earl then I will go to shops to start my Xmas shopping. I also need to get some lists on the go - xmas presents, xmas cards, xmas food.

OS wise - WM on as I type, quick tidy needed, recycling to put out, need to make a pesto with some past it rocket today, and make breadcrumbs from some flavoured bread. I may make a veggie roast too.

    Have a good day all

  • Good morning all,
    Bright here today but chilly.
Wm has just finished so that will be going on the airer. One more load to do and i have caught up with the washing. For now anyway.
Hubby is in bed as he has work tonight. Hoovered everywhere last night so not too much to do today. The bathroom needs a quick wipe around. I will do that when the girls have finished in there.
Luch is leftover pizza and the leftover salad from last night.Tea is chicken with potatoes and vegetables.
I may get a little more baking done today. I will do a bit more knitting as well.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning all,

Quiet on here this morning, I was awake before 8 but lay in bed reading my book, was bliss. DD was at a party last night and slept over, OH and I had a quiet evening in, he has gone off to the boot sale this morning, so peaceful for the time being.

Got my turkey yesterday, its a de boned rolled one, will feed 8 - 10 there are 5 meat eaters coming, it was only £20 :T so a bargain I thought. Its in the freezer along side a bit of pork, which we will also have on the big day. I have also booked a food delivery for the 22nd, I normally go and do the xmas shop myself, but really cant be doing with fighting the crowds, if anything vital is missing DD and I can nip to Waitrose on the 23rd.

Going to see my darling dad today, we are hoping to get him home for xmas, but it depends how he is, he has been suffering with a bad chest infection, so hope that clears up soon.

This afternoon will be spent wrapping presents, would like to get the majority done today.

Jacket spuds for dinner, with ham and cheese.

    Bedding in the wm.

    Have good days all xx

I babysat last night & didn't get in 'til midnight so I didn't get up 'til 8:30 & I've spent the morning browsing my son's travel photo's that he has uploaded.
Today I shall just potter around & do some tidying & cleaning & sort out the decorations, I shall put them up Monday night.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Back home and happy :T:T:T

Kid's Dad came and picked me up early - I do love him:happylove

Wonderful welcome from my furry friends especially, Picachu my piggy, who did laps of their cage :rotfl:

I made a wreath yesterday which is very MSE. I had no idea how easy they were to make using foraged greenery and leaves. I will post a picture later.

Today we are popping to shops to get a wreath hanger and then Im working on my Christmas Tree:xmastree:

    Love and hugs x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I am going to DH's shop today to do his Xmas window display and then will come home and put up our tree and decorations!
I went to Portobello market yesterday and bought a pressies for DS2, DD and myself :) , so that's a few off the list.
Great idea about the oil burner, I have some cinammon and pine essential oils so I will set mine up too - thx for the inspiration.
Can any knitters check out my question on the knitters thread please!
Have a great day all, and good luck to those going Xmas shopping x

Is everyone having a lie in?! Had to pick DD up from Glasgow at 1 this morning, much cheaper than the taxi so slept till half 8 this morning, goodness knows when she will surface.

Decorations going up today and then watching Elf, Christmas is on the way when that's been on!

Just made pancakes for DDs breakfast/lunch. Sausages for tea, may do toad in the hole. Washing fairly up to date, just going to flick the duster about before the decs cover everything!!

Enjoy your Sundays. Take care. XX
  • Morning all!

Have just processed fruit, nuts, cherries and peel to make a Guyanese Black Cake, it is now steeping in rum to be made on Wednesday. I wasn't going to make a Christmas Cake but this one looked so nice I thought I'd try it. The recipe was in a Waitrose supplement.

Second load of washing just finishing, will put on airer and hang strategically to ensure it dries as crease-free as possible!

Am going to knit a chunky neck warmer/snood later. It's a really easy pattern from Ravelry, will take a couple of hours to complete I hope. Am trying to make a few for little Christmas gifts, this one is a lovely aqua colour. I will get the name of the pattern later if anyone is interested.

Need to do (well start) some gift wrapping, I am determined not to be wrapping up at 1am on Christmas morning!:rotfl:

    HAGD everyone!

PS chicken pieces for dinner (casserole or roast?), toast for lunch
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

    one life, live it!
