Homosexual partnerships are now of an equal status as heterosexual couples, despite being subject to the death penalty in other countries.
Here here, any man brave enough to marry 2 woman at the same time deserves exta benefits i reckon.;)Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
Presumably, it's to avoid paying the full single person amount for the second (and subsequent) wives. I wouldn't get hot under the collar about it - it's cheaper than the alternative; not dearer.
I guess I am not a liberal as I thought - I was genuinely shocked that someone can marry again and again and again overseas and bring their wives to the UK to claim benefits and had a category for this., when it's an illeagal practice in the UK :eek:0 -
I notice that the benefit I'm on, Bereavement Allowance, is going up 2.2%. It won't make much difference to me as I'll be coming off it in June, but why does that get 2.2% but ESA, HB and IS only get 1%0

It depends on your circumstances.
Are you over 60?
Do you receive DLA?0 -

Information on polygamous marriages for anyone interested for benefit purposes.
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/submission-to-sos-091106.pdfI currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.

(I thought you were more concerned about the moral aspect?) they can't. There are minimum income requirements - which are being raised -- and "no recourse to public funds" rules, also limits on a right to remain. Also someone domiciled here cannot enter into a polygamous marriage elsewhere.
Any benefits that are payable (where polygamous marriages have been validly contracted elsewhere) are paid at a lower rate than if the spouses were single.0 -

It is my understanding that you should receive the enhanced disability premium at 15 quid a week, and the severe disability premium at 50 or so.
This is if you live alone.
If you have a partner, you are only entitled to the enhanced disability premium.
The EDP should be backdatable to the point at which you were put in the support group, and the SDP to the point when you were in the ESA support group, and entitled to DLA at MRC or above.
(if these differ)
Phone up the ESA helpline, and check!
If you are not granted the premiums, or the backpay, consider appealing that decision, unless you are given reasons that you can check that you don't qualify.
(I may have missed something)
