To buy a leaving present or not ...that is the question

  • If going on maternity I wouldn't give her anything, even if I liked her.

    What a charmer.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

I'm not being mean. If she's going on maternity leave and coming back then she's not actually leaving. My work does collections for everything, which I give to, but never do a collection for maternity leave. Some flowers and baby gifts are brought when the baby is born, which seems a much better option.

We just had a collection for a colleague who left on maternity leave unexpectedly early; so we collected when baby was born. I did the collection but was not impressed by a colleague who seemed to have a lot to say about what she felt was an appropriate gift; and was intent on NOT getting 'something for the baby' ie clothes, but something for the baby's future, eg jewellery.shrug.gif
I felt that if she had such strong feelings she should have organised the collection.

No. There is far too much hypocrisy in this world.
