Sky won't accept my MSE 50% off code

Has anyone else had issues with Sky refusing to accept the code for 50% off TV and Broadband package.
I was lucky enough to get a code today and, as I have been with Sky for much longer than 12 months, tried to redeem it.
First the Sky website refused to accept the code so I called customer services.
Sky refused to accept the code as they said it could have come from anywhere as it is a hyperlink code. They implied that it was not a recognised code and refused to accept anything I said about the link on their website or that it was an agreed thing with MSE.
Anyone got any suggestions as to how I can resolve this?
My assumption is that MSE would not give out a code unless it was valid and only gave out enough codes as supplied to MSE by Sky.

I am glad that you are trying the same thing as me as I also too, understood that the offer was for either new customers OR customers who had been with Sky for longer than 12 months. They have changed the wording now to "those who last had Sky 12+ months ago".
I will cut and paste my posting from another thread below - experiencing same problem as you. Don't know what to do about it.

Posted this on another thread about the 50% codes last night. Any thoughts?
Tracey
I am very confused as I am an existing HD customer and the offer seems to have changed since the codes have been released.
The original wording stated something like " 50% off for new customers (or existing customers who have had for Sky 12+ months)". I cannot remember correct words but have a copy on my iPad at work as I did not shut down the page.
All my family interpreted this as new customers or existing customers - as long as they have had Sky for over 12 months. Three families, three packages, we all got codes - worth a lot of money.
However, the wording has now changed to "New Sky customers (or those who last had it over 12 months ago) can use these codes for a year's 50% off broadband and ALL TV packages" which is completely different and means that we are not elegible. My sister compared the two sets of wording (from then and now) on her computer as she didn't shut her computer down last night and kept the original webpage up and also confirms that the wording has changed.
What's happened? We thought that we were elegible, got excited when we got codes and now they are worth nothing and we have inadvertently stopped other people from obtaining and using these three codes.0 -
i also managed to get the 50% off voucher, thank you MSE. however, i did all the button clicking and ordering on thursday, however, called them today to ask if we could add another service only to be told that we don't have phone line or broadband on the order, which i know we did as i checked everything twice to make sure!
so, what i thought was a great bargain is actually a con, somewhere in transit from ordering to it being put on their systems, items have 'fallen off' and they won't allow us to put the broadband or phone package back on with the discount! even though it was on their originally!!!!!0 -
It appears to be as you say Tracey, It looks as though I am not eligible either as I am an existing customer.
The service and contempt that I felt I received when contacting Sky over the phone when initially trying was atrocious. They basically called me a liar without saying so and would not hear anything I said. Complaining does nothing either.
Fair play Sky do nothing of worth to maintain loyal long term customers at all, I have only ever been offered HD for free for 6 months as a trial in over 7 years of being with sky. Even then they tried to tie me into a contract that didn't exist when I cancelled the trial, only to back down when I produced evidence of the offer I was given and threatened to take it further.
I am gutted for other MSE subscribers as well, the same as you. I seem to have inadvertantly taken use of a code that could have been of value to someone else. Perhaps it should have been made a bit clearer before we went for these codes.
Maybe it is the old cliche - if it seems to good to be true, it usually is!!!0 -
ive managed to get the 50% off offer but i was sent a flyer a few weeks ago as i had cancelled my sky in sept. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
