    I'm sure there's a way as it only acts as a switch as far as I can tell but I can't give advise on what you'd need to do I'm afraid.

    I just took a punt and ordered a replacement wireless receiver/controler module which cost me about £35 and I wired it in myself as it was a like for like replacement it was pretty straightforward.

  • Next time it stops working when your controls say it should be on, turn the mains power off (not using programmer) ie. fused spur. Then turn it back on and see if that makes the burner fire up. Post result on here.

    Will do, thanks.

    Yes, unfortunately the guy who serviced it isn't available until next week (busy period Xmas of course), but that's in hand.

    This morning it came on for CH as it should, then switched to HW, but whilst my wife was in the shower it decided that was enough HW and stopped - she wasn't impressed.

    As suggested, I switched off at the main spur, which switched off the wireless receiver and programmer as well. Switched back on, had to re-set the wireless receiver (as it was just on red), and still didn't come on (just doing 2 sec refusal, which it seems to do if its messed with too much). Left it for 10 mins and came back, switched programmer OFF/ON, fired up like nothing was ever wrong.

    I'll take some pictures when I get a chance today (unlike suggested by someone, I don't have time to "thrash around" a lot, and still have this issue after reading all the manuals, which I did both before and after my OP) and will post up tonight.

    OK, update time...

    I'd say the problem has got worse, the system has to be set manually and we can't rely on it to give us hot water or central heating in short order. To get enough water for my son to have a bath tonight required manually resetting the system 3 times.

    Anyway, here's some photos of the system;

    IMGP8443_zps4c00aa3a.jpg

    Watching the system more closely, the system in CH mode seems to fire up the burner and water pump and work fine (radiators get hot), but then if someone switches on the hot water, the system instantly stops the burner. Although all the "On" lights are still on and the thermostat is calling for heat, the system just pumps water around without switching the burner. If you switch the CH to OFF then back to ON, the system fires up fine.

    If you come to the system cold and just ask for hot water, again the system fires up and provides hot water, but after a time the burner switches off, despite the hot water still being called for. If you do the OFF/ON thing again it works again.

    If you mess around too much, when you switch OFF/ON, the system will stop after trying to light the burner almost immediately. You then need to leave it for at least 10 minutes before trying again, and usually it works, but sometimes it doesn't - this is a right pain in the morning!

    Oh, and we did speak to the company that did the service - apparently the engineer was not doing it "officially", but as a "favour" to the prior house owner, despite supplying us with paperwork filled out with the companies details. I'm now doubtful as to whether the service was carried out at all, but as the company are trying to wash their hands of it and we're talking to our solicitors about where we stand on this, they're not going to come and look at it. I've thus asked for some quotes from local firms to take a look, but am posting in the hope that someone can help before we have to shell out god-knows-how-much just before Christmas.

    Anyone?
