Some games may want to go online to check a license or similar

But this is so unlikely it isn't even worth mentioning. Only specific games/apps would do this.

The person asked, I gave an answer - it would not take long to check a few applications with the wifi disabled and that way they'd know before hand. As for it being so unlikely it isn't worth mentioning, I disagree - that's great if you've never had any license issues but a read through some of the paid app reviews shows not everyone is so lucky.

When I'm logged into Facebook it's an HTTPS session so it's secure the same as using a bank or shopping site so what's the difference?

Maybe Im wrong but I thought you shouldn't use say facebook or login into internet when using a unsecure wireless connection
I think you want to explain your answer as you are suggesting that 'those that require internet access' just won't work which of course isn't true. Believe it or not, the UK is not the only country with internet access... Yes. you mentioned google maps as an example but it's the way you wrote the post.

Yes, and all French people wear onions around their neck and smell of garlic...

I used google maps as an example as that was the first 1 that came to mind eg with no internet access maps will say you need to "enable mobile data " which makes it unusable, [STRIKE]not sure how else I could have said it but clearly not the way I typed the reply.[/STRIKE] ok maybe the frist reply could have been worded better and have edited it.

I never said the UK wasn't the only country with internet access so not sure where you got that from. I didnt mention about using 3G abroad or the ways to use it on a nexus as that wasn't what the OP asked.
